  • R100RT OEM handlebar width?

How wide are the stock handlebars for the R100RT?

I have just received an OEM replacement set that I ordered and they are 26" inside edge to inside edge of the open ends of the bars.

    Is that correct?

Putting my hands on the new ones, my recollection of riding an RT with stock bars is that it felt wider than that, but then I could be wrong.

A measured reply would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,
    Rick

Rick, mine measure almost 27" to the point I think is at the end of the bars (hard to tell with the grips in place). Of course the bike started its life as a R100RS and I don't really know if the bars were changed out. I guess this doesn't help much, huh?

Jamie, thanks. Actually that is helpful. I think the grips would add a bit to the length, which would concurrently add a bit to the width as I cited the measurement.

Also, the RS bars I've seen are somewhat flat and the rise and angle are less that what I'm looking at in my hands. So I'm thinking they did send me the correct bars.

Sounds like you have what you need. It also assures me that my bike does indeed have the R100RT bars. Now that you have jogged my memory, the RS bars are flat and shorter.

Hey Rick. If you're anything like me, the bars aren't getting narrower, you're getting wider!

          Get the seat open yet?

Hmm ... I have been away from beemers for four or five years but I am sure I resemble the wider remark, so that could well be the issue.

The seat is not open yet, but I have fiddled with it some more and can feel the mechanism moving just a bit. I talked with the PO last evening and he told me how he unjammed it when it happened to him. What he did was to to go up on the right side with an 8 mm (or maybe 10 mm) socket and an extension and loosen the hinges at the seat pan to get some wriggle -- at which point it would release.

Apparently the jamming is an issue with some of the Corbin seats. It will be Saturday before I can get back on it, but I'll try his trick.

            Stay tuned!
