  • /6 front brake problem

Aside from the fact that I do pay my dues every year (and mostly on time), I'm probably about the sorriest member of the club. I only make a meeting every couple of years and I only get to ride a couple thousand miles a year. Anyway, I hope somebody out there will take pity on me and help me solve a problem. I pulled the bike (1974 R90/6) out and changed the oil and filter, checked the air pressure and generally gave it the once over so I could get it out of winter storage and go for a ride. On my ride the front brake lever was extremely hard to pull and the blake had even less stopping power than it normally has (it is the original single disc). The last time I did anything to the brakes was about 8 years ago when I disassembled and cleaned the master cylinder and put on new pads. Anybody want to give me any advice before I start disassembling everything? If you don't fell like typing, please give me a call at 662-539-4230 work or 662-534-9138 home.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Kenny.

Make an appointment with Terry's Two Wheel Tire and Tune and have Gary Nesmith, one of our Club Air Head gurus bring it back to life.

Stuck piston(s) in the caliper(s) maybe? Maybe rusted? Are you holding your mouth right? Try saying a little prayer.

I would look at the Master Cylinder. It gets neglected because its under the tank. Its probably froze up. Thats where I would look first. You can buy a kit and rebuild it.
