Vance, I hear that Buster has a problem. Sorry about that. I know how you feel. Hope it is nothing major.

Well, Busta got through Saturday with no problems but Sunday was another thing entirely. First off I had persuaded my bride to accompany me and several others on a nice ABEES run on Sunday. She thought staying home and cleaning house was a better idea (and sure enough it was) but never the less we loaded up. The trip was short though, at the top of the driveway just as I rolled off the throttle the cross the gutter the rear wheel slid. Atthat slow a speed and totally unexpected, our sudden stop left me off balance. I tried with all I had to hold us up but I finally gave in, told her to get off as gracefully as she could and we rolled off to the left..all the way to the ground! Chad parked and helped me right ole Buster and I rode around the block to check everything out. Of course I was really puzzled about why we had wheel slide for no reason but it felt like he was OK.. Of course Mari had decided cleaning the house was more important than ever but I implored her to load up and we headed off. Again, it didn't take long to determine we had serious issues. We made it to Shades Crest Rd & Highway 150 when it Buster began to sound like he had just eaten a John Deere tractor. He was clanging and banging to beat the band.
So I immediately pulled out the cell phone to contact good ole T Ware (who we were supposed to be meeting anyway) Turns out he was running late and still at home. After describing my situation he advised not to try and ride Buster home and he came and rescued us with the trailer.
So we think..and certainly hope it is just a clutch...
I guess the good thing (if there is such a thing) is that it happened at home and not in nowhere Wyoming or someplace!

I took Busta' by ambulance yesterday to the hospital in Atlanta. When I left there they had him in ICU and on life support. They were to complete exploratory surgery maybe today and give me a report. However, it appears to be looking pretty grim for one of his major organs, the tranny. Once I get the report and the Dr's advice, I will decide what course of treatment will be the best. Stay tuned...It is comforting to know he is being taken care of by the fine folks there and in a timely manner!

So sorry to hear about Buster's prognosis. That's two bits of bad news today. Also sorry to hear you had to fight the Atlanta traffic to take him to the docs.Bob Steber

Sorry to hear that you almost hurt Mari. Trade up and get you a 1150. Mike Paull a world traveler had a 1150GS which he involved in a deadly crash in Russia (Mike lost a leg), To replace the 1150GS he bought a new 1200GS and made one trip to Africa on it and one trip across Europe/Asia. I think he went through 3 trannys. he sold it and found a good 1150GS adventurer on which is presently at Terra del Fuego. His buddy Helge Pedersen who can get basically any bike he wants from BMW for a nominal fee, swapped his old 1150GS adventurer with many miles for a 1200GS adventurer when that model first came out. He decided it was such a dog, he asked BMW to trade it for a HP model witht he plans to put a bigger gas tank on it. BMW balked and said the 1200GS Adventurer was their adventure bike. Helge treatened to jump ship to KTM, teh BMW relented and let him have his present HP which he has decked out with Touratech's large tank. Another option may be the 800GS but we don't have much history on it. Just my on epenny's worth -can't afford 2 cents since me gotta help pay for the Obamanist stickus plan.
Too many problems with the 1200's that BMW ain't worked out. glad to hear you went to Atlanta instead of that other dealer somewhere in Alabama.

Hi, my name is Rick. This may be a knucklehead first post here, but I gather from reading this forum for awhile that y'all have a bad history with the Al dealer. I've only been going over there for about three or four years, but most everybody there has been helpful and courteous to me. They have serviced my first bike (F650) and have taken care of a couple of warranty issues and performed the service work on my present one (1200GS). I haven't had any major repair work done yet, but everything they have done to my bike has been very satisfactory.
I've enjoyed reading your forum and hope to contibute to it once in awhile.

Welcome to the forum Rick.
Unfortunately, some of our members have had unpleasant experiences with our local dealer. I think and hope they are making progress to improve customer service in the parts and clothing department. The new fellow, Andy is a good step in the right direction. Kenny is doing a good job with service. Bryson and David donated three Olympia Jackets for our club's ABEES riding challenges for the last three years and are offering another one for 2009. They are also offering a 25% off coupon for Club members who complete the All Around Alabama Challenge.
Thank you for posting a positive message.Bob Steber

I bought a motorcycle from them and they made me sign a whole bunch of papers. They were mean, mean I tell you.Originally posted by dixieoutlaw View PostWe don't need not dressing down by any self proclaimed Mississippi inbreds!
You know this club is trying to make nice with that bunch of jerks, but I see mass migrations to other shops. Who in the world created all this controversy?

It's a 1200. One of those that goes to flying apart like a Harley Davidson.
