  • 1988 k100 mechanic?

    hello,

just road home to al from brooklyn, NY on my 88 k100 a month ago. was headed back up and my bike nearly caught fire from an electrical short. long story (and ride) short... its parked in my folks basement until i can figure out what the problem is or i can find a mechanic in the region that works on this type of bike.
im looking for suggestions on where i should take it to get it looked at and fixed. the mechanics are solid but the electrics are apparently full of gremlins and now mostly fried so herein the issue lay.

any help would be most appreciated.

Just in case anyone is curious or interested

I stripped off my old melted down wiring harness shipped it to a gentleman in ireland who has salvaged what he can from my old radioactive waste harness (connector and relay-wise) and has built a new harness from the ground up. I installed it on the bike and I'm happy to share that I heard my bike run again for the first time in 8 months.

Unfortunately I have to ship the harness back for some slight alterations, so while i wait 20+ days for my amazing and NEW working harness to get back, I plan to dismantle much of my bike for a good cosmetic cleaning.
