If it's what I think you are talking about, it usually happens first gear, low speeds, right? The GS and RT have the same engines. I had this problem. It's not as bad as it was, I've got about 15,000 miles on it now.James

Don't know about a R1200RT but I have a R1100RT that had the same problem early in its life. My problem was Bosch Platium spark plugs. Someone at the time came up with a Autolife spark plug that solved the problem. I know it was the plugs because it went in for a warranty oil leak fix and when I got it back the surge was back. The mechanic had changed out the plugs. Changed them back and it was gone.Tim

I chalked mine up to my bike being real throttle sensitive in first at low RPMs. It was crazy doing the low speed thing in the ERC course; I had to feather the clutch constantly to maintain a smooth low speed.
It does get better though. Don't worry about it.James
