  • New m/c tags

I have the distinct disadvantage of renewing my tags in January and picked up my new tags yesterday. They are BUTT UGLY. They are the same as the Sweet Home Alabama tags except they don't say it. They should just go back to the plain tag with just numbers and not try to be artistic. Just my humble opinion.

I agree Jim. sometimes you wonder why something so easy has to be made so hard...but I guess that is government...but it doesn't have to be!

We could look into getting a Vanity plate for the Alabama Club, the proceeds would need to fund some club related organization for example the Alabama Motorcycle Safety Foundation....

Required number of pre-commitments? I have never seen the number lower than 250. Most are like 1000. May be based on number of membership in organization..

Paying he extra $50 or so....the plain tag looks better all the time...

I just happy that my personalized MC tag will still allow 7 Letters, hence I have NORWOOD (so I can find my bike in a large parking lot)

However, most Vanity MC tags (Barbers for example) only allow 5 letters.

Would you mind posting a pic of your new tag Jim? I may have to go with a Barber tag this year if it's that bad.

Chris, and anyone else with an interest in any 2010 AL license plate, can see a picture of them at http://www.ador.state.al.us/motorvehicle/index.html, then click on the menu pick for license plate information. ADOT has the plates divided up into several different categories, so search around. (The "Sweet Home Alabama" tag is a standard plate, in the first category). If you are going for a vanity plate, you can do your research & reserve your tag number from this site, too.

          Enjoy the search!

A BMWMOAL tag would really be cool. We should check into it! I can only imagine too many rules though. Seems like I remember when Barber's did it it took a couple years to get it done...and if it is that tough with those resources...it must be tough indeed!

When I sat on the State Cattleman board we got one for that association without much fanfare...the pre-order was based on membership then...we need the exact number of members.

On the DOR web page, I noticed one group only needed 250 pre-orders...

Can't say about Barber's, but remember when it was in question....could have been the unknown members or supporters of the museum at the time.

Then too, Motorcycle tags may have different guidlines than autos.

Maybe they can't, but they sure know how to play football. Maybe a crimson tag would be popular.
