  • January 2010 meeting

John Harper wrote the following e-mail to Ron Riggins, Vance Harrelson and myself. He asked me to post it on the forum for him.

    ""Hi Folks

First let me apologize for leaving the meeting before it was over, I had sat there in agonizing pain till I had to get up and leave, Iam a Disabled Veteran, I hurt my back in the US ARMY in 1964. I have had surgery and everything else they can do. Last week I had # 4 epidural steroid injection in my low back and it is still very sore, I just could not sit any longer.

Anyway I wanted to congratulate the three of you as I believe you all worked with such passion to get your opinions for change out there. Ron you held the meeting to the highest standards, you kept everyone in check and perhaps saved our club, if you had not asserted your authority and determination for order, Iam afraid we could have had a fractured at best or at worst a destroyed club. Even though I share a different viewpoint on the issues voted on, that is behind me and I know the others who shared a viewpoint with, will again get in lock step and continue the march as we continue towards our 40th anniversary.

Vance , I must say you are a great organizer and leader, Iam very happy to have you lead this club I could say much here but I will simply say, you will do us proud, for absolute certain.

Connie, no one has loved this club anymore than you and Russ Simpson, you keep up your love and passion and know your sacrifices are know by all club members.

Iam the sole care giver for my 89 year old Mom, this was my first trip outside of Anniston since last July when I attended a friends Funeral. So when you don't see me this year know Iam taking care of Mom and enjoying no savoring each minute (well we do have our moments), really getting caught up on family history and putting notes on the back of the family photos, to identify them for future generations. Pardon my rambling I tend to over explain myself, gets worse with age.

    Cheers to you all

    John Harper"""

That was well stated by John. I also supported John's opinion but the votes are in and now it's time to move on.

I also would like to add my appreciation for the way Ron Riggins conducted the meeting. He was a steady hand on the tiller when we needed it.

Good luck to all our new officers.
