  • Ever wonder why someone runs over you?

Folks, be careful out there and keep a watch on you back side....

Sunday morning a rock slide on 129 (Tail of Dragon) hwy near the Footshills parkway....

You got to ask yourself, if someone can't see a rockslide, with TV crews and Law enforcement parked with lights a flashings...

I let you form your opinion ...I have mine...

    Take a look...

        Thanks Don.

Wonder if he was talking on a cell phone or petting his dog?

I saw this video on our local news, but didn't know that happened on Hwy 129.

How could he not see all of the flashing lights and the rock slide? Must have been sleeping or something. It's scary to know that we share the roads with these dorks.

I see the video made all the major networks today....

I doubt him talking on cell phone...no coverage in that area by most carriers...

If you notice at the start of video another car on the other side made the stop in a shorter sight distance than the hitter.

News says the road will be closed for a few days to check out the mountain grounds for any future slides in same area.

Hwy 64 in the Ocoee River Gorge is still closed...should be open at the end of this month...if the rains hold off a few days.

Well I have a theory as to where their head is when it comes to drivers like this. Last Tuesday evening at dusk I was headed home on hwy 43 north of hwy 280 in Chelsea. I was the 2nd vehicle stopped behind a car waiting to turn left into a subdivision when I was hit from behind by a '96 Tacoma doing 50 mph (within the 55 mph speed limit). He didn't even check up. Glad I was in "The Tank," my '05 Suburban, and not on my K75 as I was the day before. How does one just NOT SEE what is right in front of them? I'm a bit lucky considering I'll be 40 in May and this is my first accident.

Was this a cell phone talker or texting?

Wow Chris! I too am glad to hear you are OK. There is an article about this kind of thing in this month's MOA magazine...the title is something like "Ride like you are invisible" and that is because you are!

Another reminder for everyone to be especially careful and attentive when we are on the road...on the bike or in the cage. And even then you can certainly be a victim as Chris was....everyone be careful!

Also glad you're OK Chris. That is my greatest fear on the bike, being rear-ended at a stop by someone in a cage with their head up their #@$*. I always try to leave room ahead of me and watch my rear view mirrors when stopped. Wanda and I were rear-ended in our car several years ago in Biloxi while stopped behind someone waiting to make a left turn. A punk-rocker girl and her boyfriend(using the term loosely) hit us. I could see that she was on her cell phone before she hit us and did not check up. Her vehicle was totaled with the front end pushed half way to the windshield. Our car just had a slightly bent tail pipe and the imprint of the Chrysler emblem on the back bumper. We had some whiplash problems for a while but otherwise came out OK. The really best part was that the vehicle following directly behind her was a Biloxi police unit who saw the whole thing. She was ticketed and luckily for us she did have insurance. Some people should not be allowed to drive.

When at a stop I'll move my arms out to the sides like I'm stretching. I even shake my head "NO" when coming up on an intersection with someone wanting to make a turn in front of me. I'd like to think that those movements catch the eye of the motorists and keep me out of deep kimchi.

Chris - glad to hear you're OK.
