  • Nauvoo Car Show

Gene McDaniel at Nauvoo e-mailed me a while back requesting a picture of a BMW motorcycle so the artist could paint it on the wall of the garage across the street from the hotel. I got another e-mail from Gene today saying that it is done.

Oh, and the picture of the bike that I sent was, of course, BMW's flagship K1200LT.

Don't miss the car show June 19 at Nauvoo and see the BMW motorcycle on the side of the garage.

Thanks Jamie. I got the email from him too saying it would be up there on the wall for all to see. Very cool, who is planning to attend the show? I am strongly considering a ride up there next Saturday!

        David.

Sorry I missed you. I was delayed getting there by a mamouth thunder storm that just about blew me off the road. I saw the old Studebaker leaving Nauvoo on his way to Hwy 78. Glad you got a pitcuer of it. Thanks also for the other excellent photos.

Well Rocko, sorry we missed you too! Mari and I arrived about 11:30 after getting drenched like Bob in Carbon Hill...soaked! When we arrived we parked next to Jamie & Malvene who had gotten soaked on the too! A great showing of cars although Gene said they were down about 100 cars from last year. It was a lot of fun and some really cool cars there too!

We left and headed down to Tuscaloosa for some Dreamland Ribs to top off the afternoon. Rain and drizzle ALL the way! It was a fun day though and I hope all made it home safely!

Timing is everything!! Paul and I left Nauvoo about 11:00 with a very dark sky to the north. Not a drop of rain all day...plenty of heat though.

Malvene and I had a great time at Nauvoo especially when we saw that Vance and Mari were there. Lots of very nice old cars. The painting of the K1200LT on the side of the Post Offce was really cool. I forgot my camera but Vance has a photo in his post.

When we left home, going through downtown B'ham, it was 95 degrees. After we hit the showers about Carbon Hill the temp dropped to 74. It stayed at 74 with light rain all the way home. I can put up with the rain if it keeps the temperature down. All-in-all a very good day. Did I mention that I met Miss Alabama? Vance tried to buddy up with her because they both are left handed. I don't know.

We had a brief stop in Jasper for lunch at Victoria's Restaurant. Very good, as usual.

Enjoyed the photos all. Vance, I can see you and Mari driving that touring car to Redmond. Nice looking painting of the LT. Jamie do you think you could get Gene to add a different model BMW each year? Like an RT or something. Looks like a fun Saturday, wish we were there.
