  • Looking For An Old BMW in South Alabama

I received this from Glenn Billingsley after talking to him at Barber's this past weekend. Any help we can give him would be appreciated!

    Hi Vance,

We met Saturday at Barber’s. I’m the guy (Glenn Billingsley) looking for his dad’s 1970 R75/5.
I enjoyed talked to you and your group and really appreciate your help.

My Dad bought it new in 1971 when we were stationed in Holland with the Air Force.
He brought it back with him and had it for almost 20 years before selling it to
Lamar Vann of Webb, AL. Lamar passed away in May of 2009, but he had
sold it to his brother Glenn Vann (Monroeville, AL) some time before.
Glenn Vann passed away Sept 2007 and the bike was sold from his estate to someone in the Coffeeville, AL area some time after that.

    1971 (90%sure, but might be 1970) BMW R75/5
brought in Holland but was built to American Specs.
Avon fairing and side-cases, might or might not still be with bike
Kick-Start had been removed and hole welded closed
Black, Dad repainted it in mid 80’s with black Emron paint, no pinstripes

    Thanks,
    Glenn Billingsley
