  • DIY Routine Service and Recycling

For those that change their own batteries, tires, oil, and fluids, where and how do you recycle the used items? I thought most must use a garage or oil change service to dispose of the oil, but I was curious about where you take the old batteries and tires.

    Thanks,
    Rick

    Hi Rick,
For small quantities of those items likewediy'ers have, you can usually drop the batteries off at a battery store or AutoZone type store. The tires drop off at a legitimate tire dealer, normally they will not charge for one or two at a time...hope this helps!

I drop mine off behind the Wal-Mart auto service bay after they are closed.

We burn the tires and use the oil to burn trash when its kinda damp. We just throw the batteries inside the Firebird, which is on blocks, out behind the doublewide .
