Nolan n-103 helmet

Is there anyone who owns one of the above helmets who would provide their opinion of it? I have an N-102 helmet and will replace it when it ages, hopefully with the N-103. Of course, this decision will be based on user comments. I like the "internal" flip-down sun screen. Does it work well?

I bought one a year or so ago. I like the single latch vs. two latch system to lift the face shield. The sun visor is handy at times. Be sure to try one on first. I had to get a different size from my N102

Try the Scorpion Transformer before you make your decision. I have owned four brands of modular helmets (not the Nolan), one of which was the BMW System 4, and the Scorpion is my favorite. Phillip Warren has one also and really likes his and he had a Nolan. My size is XXL and you are welcome to try it on.

Suz and I have the N102 for riding the K1200LT because I bought them from JandP ready wired for the BMW intercom. It is the heaviest helmet I have ever owned and wouldn't consider another Nolan because of that. We have HJC flup face with the inside sun shield for the other bikes and they are much lighter. I would deffinitly try some others on before you buy. Have only heard great things about the new Scorpion helmets. They didn't have the flip face when I bought the HJC.

What no Schuberth C-3? They're not just for Europe any more. A helmet with a proper German name and engineering that only costs two to three times what most modular / flip up helmets cost now a days.

Well I bought matching Schuberths a few years back...paid too much and then despised the product. Maybe good for some..I couldn't get rid of them fast enough...that's just me though....

The Shuberth is one of the flip front helmets I had. Even though they made BMW System 4 helmet, which was an excellent helmet, it was one of the worst helmets I owned. Too heavy and noisy.

I bought a Shuberth at the RA in Shelbyville a few years ago. Rode to Daytona, walked over the bridge to the BMW shop and bought a Nolan. Put the Shuberth in a shipping box, ans sold it when I got back to Huntsville. Heaviest and noisiest thing I ever had.

Another option -- Check out the HJC Sy-Max II. They also have the drop-down sunshade, and Newenough.com has (had?) them on sale for $159 w/free shipping. Ordered mine last Thursday night (1/6/11), and it arrived yesterday, as promised. It is brand new, of course. I've owned HJC helmets for a number of years and have found they fit my roundish head very well (don't fit my wife's longish head at all), and have been very well made.

Now if it warms up enough, I'll let you know how well the sunshade works!

HJC makes a really good helmet for the $$. I own two Schuberths, one was a gift, and the other one was the one Jeanne Z got rid of . They make me look like Humpty Dumpty. I like the looks of a Nolan because they seem to have a smaller profile, and don't make your head look so bulbous. Guess I'll stick to my HJC for a while. Gail
