  • Feasting on Asphalt

I just picked up Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt seasons 1 and 2 at Target! It is a six disc set for 15 dollars. I was planning to bring it to the meeting in Montevallo if anyone is interested in watching it. For anyone not familiar with it, Alton Brown has a regular cooking show on the Food Network called Good Eats. In Feasting on Asphalt, he tours the country on a BMW GS looking for good food at out of the way places. He's a funny dude from Atlanta that has owned several BMWs.

His opinion in what is "good" food should not be taken lightly either. Paul & I have visited several of the eateries the crew stopped at, and they are very good indeed. Also, one of the guys on the first tour was non other than "my" dealer, Bob Wooldredge of BMW m/c of Atlanta!

Malvene and I have eaten at Shirley's Soul Food Restaurant in Toccoa, GA. The old gals there know something about southern cooking! It is worth going far out of your way to eat there; and the roads ain't bad either.
