  • Thinking About Our LA Contingent!!

Here's hoping you all get through the storm with no damage. It appears the threat is more the total rainfall expected rather than the wind this time. We need the rain badly up this way but hope it is not too rough on you all. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Let us know how it goes!! Take care!!

So far things are not too bad. We just had light rain off and on for most of the day. Later this evening and right now it has been light to moderate rain with some stiff breezes with a heavier shower once in a while. I don't think that we'll get much worse than that, at least I hope not. With any luck the storm will pick up a little speed and clear out of here. The radar shows it still moving somewhat northwest and it looks like we're not in the center and heaviest rain area. I'll post an update tomorrow. Thanks for thinking about us.

The Aviation weather forecast shows the tropical storm centered over north Alabama on Tuesday with a cold front pushing the system north and east.

Conditions right now are not too bad. We've had 4-1/2 inches of rain here so far. It's not raining at all right now and there is hardly any wind. The radar shows the center of the storm just a little southwest of here and pretty much on shore and shows that we are just about out of the serious rain area. Hope it stays that way-Might go for a ride.

May not be as much left to fall on y'all after it leaves here. We had 8 1/2 inches here at home since Friday. Other places had more. No damage from the winds, they were only 25-35 mph. Just had a bunch of small twigs and leaves from the trees down in the yard this morning. Hope y'all don't get more rain than you need and no other bad weather is associated with it.

I just checked my rain gauge (Mon.-5:30pm) and we have had 6.5 inches of rain. The wind has picked up a little and the lights are flickering, but all is well.

From the looks of the weather radar it looks like y'all had some nasty weather up your way too. We actually had more wind this morning than yesterday during the day plus it was a very dark and threatening sky but no rain. The wind had shifted to the north and It was chilly most of the day(70s). Hope y'all got the rain you needed but not too much.

7:50pm - I just went out and poured out the rain gauge. It was full and only records 8". The wind has been gusting, I would say, approximately 45mph. A tree fell on a house behind us. I think maybe everything will quieten down in an hour or so.

Earlier, the hummingbirds were having a heck of a time trying to eat before going to roost. Quite a site!

We don't have a rain gauge but I am sure our deficit has been wiped out.

Glad to hear y'all just got "watered" and no other serious damage. Seems like some areas of Gerogia had more serious problems with strong winds and tornados. Glad that everyone made it through with no serious problems. Woke up today to beautiful blue skies and 60 degrees, what a change.

Quite a few trees down here on "Sand Mountain". The rain stopped about noon but there's still a heavy mist in the air. Hope the sun comes out tomorrow!
