  • Tag for m/c trailer

So I registered the unigo today and they give me a large UT trailer tag. Is there a small one available? Coffee County Probate Office says no.

Believe it or not your 2012 Motorcycle Safety Coalition (bet you didn't even know that coalition exists...lol...) is working on this right now with the state of al dept of revenue...

Right now there is no small tag for this purpose. We are working on that along with a "motorcycle safety" plate that could generate some revenue for the program....

Who here would sign up for a $50 plate for such??

That thing is so little I'm surprised it needs a tag!

I looked on line AL DOT, and it said that single axle trailers smaller than 16' do not require tags. Why do we register them then I ask? Vance, I would buy the tag.

well, i am glad to know the deal about single axle & less than 16' not requiring a tag...that means for a guy like me that has a trailer fetish that I can save some money! Like you I would like to see a small utility trailer tag the size of a motorcycle plate....

i do have a couple trailers less than 16' with no tags now....

I was told that tags were not required if used for agricultural purposes, bu th websit, or how I interpret it sy other. Who knows?

Don, how did you mon your ta on the Uni go? The wholes in the tag are too wide for the wholes in the fender. Suppose I could make a bracket.

Steve I pulled a unigo from coast to coast, even routine licenses and ins checks was never ask about my tag...I didn't display it.....however I purchased a basic trailer tag and carried it in the trailer...

I was stopped one time in Wyoming and given warming for speeding....the officer looked the trailer over and never ask about the tag.

                Hope this helps!

Steve, it seems to me that it depends on the county and the folks working in the office as to what kind of response you might get when you ask questions along these lines. Don and I lost our tag somewhere in Utah or Wyoming several years ago, it vibrated off the tag holder. Like Don, we rode home without a tag and were never stopped.
We have since made a copy of our tag, reduced in size, laminated it to an old motorcycle tag and mounted it on the trailer. The tag itself is in the bottom of the trailer.
I hope you enjoy your trailer as much as Don and I have enjoyed ours.

Now that is an awesome idea. I think I will do the same.

Do you guys have the handle mounted on the Unigo?

They look neat but crazy expensive. I think it would make moving it much easier.

                      Thanks again for the info.

                        I must clarify here:

The above quote should state that a title is not required, but they must be registered. Oh well, so much for that idea.

We do have the handle for the Uni-go and it does make it much easier to move. Don has found it works much better to push it like a wheelbarrow rather than try to pull it and the handle helps to stabilize it. Also, our son has the black handle on his and it looks sharper than the gray we have on ours.
                              Glad wecould be helpful.
