001.jpg004.jpgPaul & I are headed to points "out West" for a couple of weeks. The drought they were having in Texas is apparently over, upon our arrival . We rode about 200 miles today in hard rain and under flash flood warnings. We are currently hold up in the Best Western in Kerrville, TX, and hope to ride the TX Hill Country tomorrow. Nothing like good, waterproof riding gear. Gail

Gail, sounds like y'all brought some much needed rain to Texas. Don't know what part of the Hill Country y'all plan to ride but not too far from Kerville to the SW is a nice camping area at Garner State Park. It's on US 83 a little south of Leakey. Lots of great riding in that area. Be sure to do the "Three Sisters" loop out of Leakey , it's pretty nice. Have fun on y'all trip and ride safe.

Gator, thanks for the suggestions on riding the hill country. Paul & I usually just ride aimlessly, and get lucky sometimes. Despite the flash flooding, etc., it's pretty up here. I have never been much past my mailbox,so just about anywhere is exciting to me ;. Gail

Look for these guys while in the Hill Country and watch the water crossings...they can be slick at times.

Don when we went thru Hunt in Oct. 2010 I thought that the "Stonehenge" attraction had been torn down. We went to the spot where it was supposed to be and it was no longer there. When was your photo taken?

Bob, Feb 2010, I did a little research on this and you are correct....or least it has been moved to a museum...
            Here is story: http://www.dallasnews.com/news/state...-Hill-5366.ece

Somehow, it won't have the same effect sitting in museum... in the open field was cool.... you could even ride out and take pictures... glad I got to see it as the owner wanted it...

Sorry that we missed it. It would have been really neat to see it. We also passed through Ingram so if we had known where it had been re-erected we still could have seen it. The ride along the Guadelupe river was really nice.

Our Hill Country ride was cut short due to the fact that we actually got tired of riding thru water. Those folks have a lot of fences to fix due to the flash floods. Today was a ride thru New Mexico and some of the most amazing scenery. We rode from flat land to 8000 ft. elevation in only a short time. Thank you Gerbing for heated gear. Currently we are in Deming, New Mexico where it is much warmer than earlier today 001.jpg005.jpg009.jpg014.jpg022.jpg Gail

Sounds like you were able to avoid the bad weather in NM today. Glad you didn't get caught in the NM hailstorms. Keep sending those great pictures!

Sounds like fun to me... speaking of the rain... we had record setting rains here in NW Alabama this week...4 to 5 inches in places in short amount of time and flash flooding... reminded me of the 1972 rains that flooded Leigh Mall...

Ride safe and keep those reports and pictures coming...

Enjoyed the pics. Those water-crossing must have been fun. We rode on some roads that had one every 1/4 to 1/2 mile. As Don said, keep the pics coming and enjoy the ride.

Last night we stayed in Tuba City, AZ, after coming from NM. This morning we saw the Grand Canyon....wow, that is a big ditch! Rode over to 4 Corners, and are in Chama,NM tonight. We plan on finishing crossing NM into the TX Panhandle on into Oklahoma next. 006.jpg003.jpg015.jpg028.jpg031.jpg

Paul and Gail... looks like a great ride and good times... first time I saw the Grand Canyon....my thought was ....they could use some Kudzu out here.

                            Ride safe !!

I think the best Mexican food I have ever had was at Tia Maria's Restaurant in Chama.
