Hey Lost GS...great to have you on board! As for service..I guess there are several options. Depending on what your bike needs you can go to Bogart's or Terry Ware here in Birmingham works on them and of course a lot of folks do their own maintenance. These bikes are pretty easy to work on for the light duty stuff. Also, there is a wealth of information available on the website www.f650.com. I guess it just depends on how deep you want to get into it.

Fortunately these bikes are pretty tough and easy to maintain...also they get great gas mileage!! I love mine for sure.....

      Hey Lost GS,
Nobody services those sissy bikes, you just use them and throw them away. Why didn't you buy a real GS; one with some big'ol jugs on her. Guess it is a masculine thang about those big 'ol jugs so you probably wouldn't understand. When you grow up like yo big brother maybe he will let you ride his real GS.

Greg couldn't help pull your chain over your first post . I had a great ride with you the other day. Let's do it again. Don't forget to send Bob your ABEES point total before the end of the month.

You'll find some great people in the club and on the forum. Just watch out for the old Army helicopter pilots. The old lift pilots will try to steal your wife and the old cav pilots will try to steal your boyfriend .

Check out www.ibmwr.org tech articles some of which will refer you to the chaingang. Bet we could service the bike if we put our heads together. Would need a service manual.

          Hi Greg.

Northing sissy about that bike, but Gary is right; the 1200 GS could be the prefect machine because it does everything so well.

Doing the basic service yourself is a good option if you have some basic mechanical skills and a good service manual. If you wish to have some one do it for you, another option would be John Zibell in the Huntsville area. His phone number is in the blue BMWMOAL phone directory. If you email me (see directory), I will reply with his e-mail address. John is a Moto Guzzi type, but is a good wrench for BMWs. Also, Phillip and Glen, the mechanics at Bogart's are some the best around. With that said, I would take Gary up on his offer to help you with the services.

I was glad to hear that you and Gary went ABEESing last week. When you get your 20 checkoffs, please send me your totals. According to Gary, you will have 2tickets for a chance to win the Bogart's Olympia riding jacket that will be awarded at our January meeting in Montevallo.

              What did you decide

              Lost GS,

What did you decide on servicing your f650? We need to know. My wife has been looking for one of those girly bikes and I will need to know where best to get it serviced!

Rumor has it that you were seen hauling this bike around Athens in the back of your truck. If so, I am embarassed to say that I sponsored you into this club of real riders. If you are hauling it around, I have two recommendations.
              1. Contact Jim Kalahan at Delta61 to find out how you properly tie the bike down in a truck - you know he has a Harley. 2. Could you put a cover over it when hauling a beemer around in my neck of the woods. Don't want the locals to think we are all wussies.

Jim isn't all that bad. I hate to stick up for him, but he did fly to NYC and ride a GS back home last month.

Way to go Jim. See what you can do when you get a real bike. I knew you were capable once I met Shelia. I just knew a wonderful woman like her wouldn't marry a dud.

Merry Christmas to all my riding friends. My you cherish this time with your families. Angie and I wish all of you a most blessed New Year. Looking forward to seeing you down the road.
