Would someone please tell me the name of the white flowering vine growing all along the roadside near Raccoon Mountain and also near Lake Guntersville ? . No guesses please... I really need to know for sure, as I want to buy some for my garden. I didn't see it after Cullman, AL, as it just seemed to disappear! Thought it might be some type of Jasmine, but I couldn't find it on the internet???? Looks like it just grows wild, and it sure smells good. Thanks in advance... Gail

Do you have a photo of it? A type of clematis called bower is currently blooming in Alabama right now.
Here's a link to some of the varieties in Alabama:
The Alabama Plant Atlas is a source of data for the distribution of plants within the state as well as taxonomic, conservation, invasive, and wetland information for each species. The website also provides access to a database and images of plants photos and herbarium specimens found at participating herbaria.

Thanks for all the replies. I was going about 65 mph when I saw it, and really couldn't get close enough to see it well. I called the City of Guntersville "horticulturist", but she didn't return my call. Oh well. I believe it may be in the clematis family. Probably won't even grow here. Thanks.. GailGail
