Ok...say I know that you are supposed to be careful around school busses..especially while loading or unloading. But did you know that in Alabama you DO NOT need to stop going the opposite direction on a four lane divided highway?? apparently there are many in our great state that do not. so in the interest of public service (and to a degree my own sanity) here is the written word on this subject. Do me a favor and spread the word!!

Upon meeting or overtaking in either direction a school bus receiving or discharging children, or a church bus receiving or discharging passengers, driver must stop and not proceed until bus resumes movement or visual signals are no longer actuated. Does not apply to traffic on a 4-lane divided highway moving in the opposite direction.

I have a LOT LESS pet peeves since we moved out here in the country.

My commute is not very far Jim....but sooooo many people around here anyway do not know the law. I have seen several rear end collisions caused by people seeing the bus on the other side at the last minute and slamming on the brakes. I know...I know your are supposed to following at a safe distance to stop and all but.....arrrrrrrgh! lol...
