  • For those that like winter...hope you enjoy it!

Winter to me is a terrible inconvenience....It not only puts a real cramp in my riding...but occasionally and even bigger cramp. Had to close the office early today...3 miles home in the Z4. Took me over an hour and i had to walk the last mile. Spring and warmer weather cannot come soon enough for me.....

Why did you have to walk the last mile?

it's all up hill Jim and people were in the ditches all along there...I was nervous just walking up through there with people sliding all over theplace!

I hope you were able to leave your car in a safe place. Suz and I were at the Grocery when it started to snow here and by the time we got home there was a good inch on the roads but wasn't too slick yet. It was 16 degrees so I think that kept it from turning too slippery. We also didn't have any steep hills to navigate.

26* here in Napoleonville right now and has been sleeting off and on since around noon. My truck is completely covered in ice and the predicted low for tonight here is 23*. Wind-chill around 7*. Man I sure wish we would go back to the time before global warming

How were the Birmingham streets today? I didn't leave the house and the mail man didn't come so I don't suppose there was much improvement here.

This afternoon about 2 I was able to walk to my car and fetch Mari from work where she stayed last night. I was able to get back within a 1/2 mile of the house and walked in from there. A lot of the roads were pretty good but the interstates in several areas were still completely stopped. With a forecast high of 42 tomorrow that should rid the ice...but with a low of 10 tonight I suspect it will be noon or so anyway....hours seem like days!!

Yes...we were very fortunate that the snow was powder and only became ice once packed down on the roads...freezing rain would have been much worse!

This old dude is STILL iced in on Friday morning! Living on a hill with heavy woods all around doesn't allow the sun to do its job very well....hopefully today will be the day to get the truck down the driveway. The streets are clear, it's just my driveway that's still iced over, and I left my snow shovel in Colorado in 2006! :-)

I hear ya John...our hill is not thawed yet either! Most everything is getting back to normal as long as you are on main roads...it has been a loooong week!
