  • Speaking of Sour Grapes.....

Where do I begin? Might as well pull up a chair.....

First let me state that in no way do I blame Steve for TRYING to sell me a bike. I finally decided in June to purchase the F800S from Bogarts. That was when I heard that BMW was factory-lowering the bikes (for only $175), as opposed to spending another $1000 for an aftermarket shock. I gave a deposit and watched as Steven entered the order into the system. I was told that I should be looking for my new bike in the fall.

In July, Steve checks on my order to see if it was in cue, and doesn't see it. He contacts the BMWNA Rep to see what the deal was and was told that they weren't going to lower the bikes until January. He (the Rep) had very little concern for my situation. Told Steve to tell me to just buy the shock. Very disappointing. BTW - No Notice of the schedule change.

So I wait patiently for my bike, thinking it'll be here this spring. I got a call from Steve today telling me that when he went to check on my bike, the order was gone. When he checked on it, he was told that they were not going to make the F800S anymore and that my order was canceled. BTW.... No Notice that my order was canceled.

I contacted the Customer Relations people at BMW, told them what you just read here. After being placed on hold for a moment, he comes back and tells me that they were still making the F800S.

    WHAT THE PHUK?????

I'm livid... well, I was livid at 10am when I first got the call. Stay tuned, there may be more.....

Keep putting pressure on BMW NA. It is my opinion that they listen to squeaky wheels and strive to make the customer happy, and it sounds to me like you have a good case to press the issue with them. I'll bet Steve was as angry about this as you are; well almost as angry. Be assured, he is tenacious when trying to solve a customer's problem.

    Good luck.

Terese I am sorry you had that experience, and I would be livid too . You will get better service than that on one of their bad days at BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta. In my Forrest Gump voice "and that's all I've got to say about that". Gail

Right now I'm not blaming Bogart's, i.e. Steve Johns. Unfortunately he was only the Messenger. It's just the whole situation. This just adds to a heap of crap for the last four years of my mc saga (it's the title problem on my K750, I'm sure you've pro'bly heard about it and if you haven't, I'll bore you to death about it sometime if you're a glutton for punishment). After 22 years of riding, I'm tired of having to ride on my tippy-toes (oh yeah, I DO mean the tipofthetip) I thought this would be my chance to finally, FULLY ENJOY AND TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE a bike. Now you add heartbreak, disappointment, anger, frustration (and feeling to kick someone's ass and write a nasty letter to the BMW ON Magazine) .... are you getting the gist???

I had to ask the same question that Gail asked - do I even need to be riding a mc?

I told Steve that if I can't have the bike that I ordered (with JUST heated grips and lowered seat kit - very basic), then I want the one that they have on the floor (it has all the bells and whistles) and have it lowered (that $875 aftermarket shock) for the same price I signed on the line for.

Right now, I'll deal with Bogart's, the BMWNA Rep and the Customer Relation people at BMWNA. I was REALLY UPSET when I spoke with the CR person. It was suggested that I speak with them while I was still 'postal', to let them know how I really felt. I'm just gonna stay on top of this as much as I can hoping that maybe ONE DAY, my motorcycle problems will be behind me.

Hang in there girl. I know it is frustrating when you feel like "customer service" the very people that are supposed to be helping with problems give you the feeling that they really don't care. I know Steve is doing all he can and I do think the problem is lack of communication from NA.
Call aroud up there. and see what you can get done!!! Don't let them up until you get answers.

No point in beating a dead horse but I say this isn't a BMW of NA problem. Terese gave her bling to Bogart's. The very least they could do is follow up on it for her without her having to beg them to do their job. A customer shouldn't have to call the company, that's what the dealer is for. I will drive the extra distance for the service I have received from BMW of Atlanta. They aren't perfect, and no one else is either, but they do appreciate my business. I am going to shut up now before I type something I'll regret. Gail

Oh Gail. Keep on typing. It does the heart good to blow off steam. You and Paul have every reason to do it.

No dark side there Terese. Great looking bike. I'll wager you made two people in Huntsville, you and John Z.

I am looking forward to seeing it.

                        Terese,
nice looking ride. like I said before, I don't care if someone is riding a tricycle if they are having fun. that's what it is supposed to be about. hope it serves you well. can you do dual-sport on it - our creeks aren't to deep? like Vance pointed out in his article the biggest one is named dry creek.

                          Terese,

Where did you buy your new ride? You would be right at home down this way. I'm always amazed at how many Moto Guzzi MC's show up at the Oasis Truck Stop every Saturday. And the nearest dealer is in Houston! Folks I've talked to seem to like them.

I just wanted to let you guys know how much your words of encouragement have meant to me. I had little worries of prejudice. What can I say? BMWNA broke my heart. I can't believe a business such as theirs treats people that way. Maybe this was the 'best revenge'.

BTW....It's coming from Dallas.... owned by a gal no taller than me and she FLATFOOTS IT!!!
