I was quite surprised to learn that the club decided to support me in the 2014 Motorcycle Cannonball Run that is due to start in less than 2 months. I appreciate it very much! This endurance run starts in Daytona Beach and ends in Tacoma Washington 17 days and ~4k miles later. Right now there are ~100 riders on pre-1937 motorcycles entered. As some of you know I have been working diligently on a 1929 BMW R63. This is an overhead valve 735cc machine. Although this bike looked nice and I was able to get it running somewhat prior to tear down I have run into several challenges during rebuild which I began at the end of 2013. If you are interested in the gory details visit www.cannonbahl.com. At this time the bike is still in a million pieces. I am starting to reassemble the different components and have one pretty serious issue I hope to have resolved in the next couple of weeks (top engine casting damage - not uncommon on an 85 year old BMW that survived WW2). If everything lines up like I anticipate I hope to start test riding at the beginning of August.
One of the early stops is in Chattanooga. Details of the route can be found on http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com/ I hope to see you guys along the way!
