From my perspective the BMW Motorcycle of Huntsville Grand Opening was a resounding success. The Alabeemers were well represented, along with several of the Huntsville Friday night off-brand regulars and a number of new faces on BMWs. The below freezing weather Saturday morning may have discouraged some but not Gail and Paul who made the ride from Mississippi and I talked to a rider who came for Atlanta. Martha and Phillip represented the great state of Tennessee. Ray Zimmerman brought some of his collection of vintage BMWs and presented a couple of seminars while Vance recruited new members for the MOA and the BMWMOAL. Martha reported three new members signed up. She left membership forms with the dealer so that number could grow.
The shop sold their first BMW and were taking orders for needed parts. They have most of the BMW models on the floor and lots of gear. The Service Center has completed BMW training and has bikes in for repair. There is a lounge area with coffee and a big screen TV. Bobby Luhm, GM, told me he would be happy to provide space for meetings and would like to host weekend rides and events at the shop.
I think we have a good start to a mutually beneficial relationship with our Alabama dealership. If you were not able to attend, when you get a chance, stop by an introduce yourself. Let them know we’re glad to have them.
