  • Grand Opening Draws Familiar and New Faces

From my perspective the BMW Motorcycle of Huntsville Grand Opening was a resounding success. The Alabeemers were well represented, along with several of the Huntsville Friday night off-brand regulars and a number of new faces on BMWs. The below freezing weather Saturday morning may have discouraged some but not Gail and Paul who made the ride from Mississippi and I talked to a rider who came for Atlanta. Martha and Phillip represented the great state of Tennessee. Ray Zimmerman brought some of his collection of vintage BMWs and presented a couple of seminars while Vance recruited new members for the MOA and the BMWMOAL. Martha reported three new members signed up. She left membership forms with the dealer so that number could grow.

The shop sold their first BMW and were taking orders for needed parts. They have most of the BMW models on the floor and lots of gear. The Service Center has completed BMW training and has bikes in for repair. There is a lounge area with coffee and a big screen TV. Bobby Luhm, GM, told me he would be happy to provide space for meetings and would like to host weekend rides and events at the shop.

I think we have a good start to a mutually beneficial relationship with our Alabama dealership. If you were not able to attend, when you get a chance, stop by an introduce yourself. Let them know we’re glad to have them.

That's good news Vernon. I'm looking forward to paying our new dealership a visit soon. Wonder if there will be Pizza Saturdays there.

                      Jim,

We are moving right along. I have posted some pictures on the "Rosie's 1901 Garage & Trading Post" Facebook page. Liking the page would be appreciated.

They are finishing up the drywall. Parking lot will be finished next week. Showrooms and bikes should be delivered and installed the first two weeks of January.

We have two great mechanics and one of our management staff has worked extensively with BMW and Triumph.

At present, it is safe to say, we are cautiously optimistic about our timeline for opening. Best guess, mid January to February 1st.

Can't wait to get my hands on the new Triumph 800 XC/x.

Ric, Paul is a member who lives in the Mobile area. He is a UPS pilot and his wife is opening the dealership down there. I think they will handle Indian and Triumph.

                            Jim,

You are correct, Rosies's 1901 will be carrying both Indian and Triumph.

We just received word this morning our Triumph showroom has reached the US from England. They hope to have it cleared by customs by the end of the week. With the holidays upon us, I still don't expect it to arrive until the first week in January.

Ric, we are at 3200 Halls Mill Road in Mobile, AL, just right behind Hank Aaron Stadium. You can check out the progress on the building at the Facebook page, "Rosie's 1901 Garage & Trading Post". If you are down this way and need anything, please give us a call.
