Yeah, I live in Pelham. I got there about 1:00 and had to wait until the 2:30 and 3:00 rides to demo the 2 V-Stroms.

Cool, we just missed each other then, I pulled out about 12:45 to head back south. Just wondering where you were located, I've been trying to reach out to people in my area to go riding, but it just seems like I have slim to no luck.

I usually ride with my brother and a friend, both on Goldwings, and we generally ride in Jefferson, Shelby and St. Clair counties, so venturing out towards Montgomery would be a nice change of pace. As soon as the weather stabilizes in the warmer end of the spectrum, I can send you a message and see if you want to join us.

I see you ride a 1200GT. That's what I was really looking for when I bought this 1200RT. I just love the linear feeling power band on the GT.

If you would come to the monthly meetings you might have better luck finding someone to ride with.

If y'all are experienced mountain road riders, go to the BMW K1600 forum then look at the Southeast Rider section and within it is a thread on an April 2015 Mountain Ride in NC. It is open to all bikes, not just K 1600s, as long as you are an experienced rider. I have been on most of the roads before and they are a blast to ride. I will leave BHM that Fri morning going up. If y'all are interested in riding up with me let me know.

Sorry, I don't get on the website much. I'm in the Prattville area, so let me know if you are looking to ride sometime. PM me and we can see about meeting to set up some rides.

Big #1 is now up and running -- with bikes on the floor, BMW merchandise, and trained techs in the service department. Let's wish them luck, and hope they're here for years to come, and that they get better and better with their knowledge of the BMW product line.

Yeah, they said they are building the pre-sold bikes first (an S1000RR, R1200RTW and K1600GT). Then they have about 20 bikes in the back to build. They are taking up a fair amount of floorspace, although the apparel, accessories, etc. account for a lot of the room. I'm going to take my RT there for the 2 service recalls, and plan to have them check the valves and flush the brake fluid while I'm there. Waiting for them to get a little more experience under their belts.

The RR is on the floor, the RTW left (for my garage) about 3:45 pm today. The K16 was supposed to be picked up before close today. They rolled out a GS and a R9T onto the floor about noon today.

Don't be jealous. You seem to buy new BMW's as the seasons change. Me? I only get a new one every 5-10 years!

Well guys I just had my first bad experience with Big#1 as a BMW dealership. I called yesterday afternoon to get a set of rear brake pads for my GTL and was told that did not have any in stock. Is it just me or does anyone else expect a BMW dealership to keep in stock a sufficient quantity of one of the most consumable parts of a motorcycle. I am going by today to attempt to pick up an oil filter so it will be interesting to see if they have one of those in stock. It's not like this was a surprise to the parts department that they were about to become a BMW dealership and they have not had sufficient time to stock up on parts. I certainly hope this is not a sign of things to come where the dealership is going to screw the customers by not stocking adequate inventory to save a few bucks and force us wait on parts to be ordered. I can order parts from the internet and not spend money with them. Fortunately my wife was in Huntsville yesterday and picked up a set of pads at Cycle Nation. There are certain things like brake pads, tires, oil and filters that I expect a dealership to keep in stock so I can walk in and purchase, especially for a top of the line bike.

I can only imagine that they are working on the initial parts inventory suggested by BMW for a start-up dealer. Like you I can't imagine that brake pads for any late model bike would not be included in that initial inventory but maybe.....hopefully they will get up and running shortly....and they have your filter!
