Google tells me that the second area code for AL was added in 1995...seems like yesterday doesn't it?

Jim, the reason for the additional area codes is because Bellsouth was running out of telephone numbers for Alabama.Originally posted by jdubeemer View PostThat's about the time that cell phones were really becoming popular. I'm sure that was the reason for it.
