  • Greetings from Afar!

Ok, maybe not afar. How about South Shades Crest and 12 years? In any event it has been too long since I have been in touch with many of you and I'm sure there are way too many members out there that I just don't know. That is all certainly my loss. Trust me when I say that once upon a time the BMWMOAL organization was a focal point in my life and I miss those days tremendously. There is nothing like being on a motorcycle in the company of good friends.

First the bad news. I don't ride much anymore. I often wonder why that is but the simple fact is that I don't. Marriage, age, traffic, seasons of life, the loss of my friend J.P. Dunbar, I guess all these have a part in it. I find myself with three very nice BMW motorcycles and I only need one. I am going to offer them for sale and wanted to offer them locally first. I like them all so I guess I will sell the first two that sell and keep the third. Even if I don't ride much anymore I get a sincere amount of joy just looking at them and sitting on them and making "buddin buddin" noises as JP used to say. But that is not why they were built.

All of these bikes will need new batteries prior to sale. I hesitate to purchase new batteries without knowing how much (if any) interest there is in these bikes. If you are interested, please let me know and I will make them ready for your inspection. Needless to say I believe these to be fine motorcycles as good as, and as much fun as, the day they were made. They are not new, heck the newest is 1994 so 21 years old! That is a shock to think about. They are unique and you will certainly not see yourself coming down the road. Feel free to call or email me anytime about these and for high quality pictures. I will post the ads in the equipment section.

I hope to catch up with you all one Thursday night soon.

    Till then, ride safe.

Hello Dan great to hear from you! I thought about you the other day passing by your house and wondered how you guys are doing. These are some beautiful bikes and surely they will sell quickly. I am going to the other threads to read about them now! Take care and I hope to see you sometime soon.

Vance, stop in sometime. Actually, with all your BMW Club activities, I'm surprised you have time to ride at all!

We were at the lake with Karen and Lee a couple of weeks ago. Dang if Lee can't still ski barefoot! No why you would want to do that I don't know (kinda like jumping out of airplanes), but lets just say he still can and that is a pretty big achievement and let it go at that. I sure don't want anyone asking me why I do the stuff I do. I doubt I would have a good answer.

Hey Dan, You must know that you are able to come to a meeting and not be on your bike. Car, truck, RV, horseback, helicopter, hot air balloon or to the Oct meeting at Vances lake house by boat. Would be great to see and visit with y'all.

Yeah he told me about that...and I have to say I wondered what was he thinking! But you know Lee he has to 'prove' he still has it! I do stay pretty busy with all the motorcycle stuff but it is fun and I try to ride to everything I can and every chance I get. Heck that isn't enough for me but it will have to do until I can figure out how to make money riding instead of spending it! lol...

Thanks Jim. Point noted! I have to be at a company function tonight at 6 but could swing down prior to that to catch the early arrivals. Are you still meeting at the Diplomat Deli?

Vance's lake house by boat. Now that may be a plan!

Vance, I did reply on this thread to your earlier post. It seems that it did not get posted. I must have pushed the wrong button.

              Hey Dan
The Thursday night get together is a Baha Burgers in Hoover. I moved up to Boaz several years ago so I don't make it down there.
