  • Keeping LEFT

Good Day Mates as they say down here, bloody beautiful country.

We have had the good fortune to meet up with one our friends who lives here in New Zealand, he took deliver of new R1200 GS Adventure the day before we arrived, so he has joined us for the North Island tour for this week and he going to meet up with us again when we arrive in Australia for that tour.

Having lived here all of his life, he knows the backroads and great cafe for lunch and dinner too!

Keeping Left hasn't been too bad, city streets and parking lot are little confusing. Round abouts are a plenty.

The bush and range rides are really exciting...

I hope to have my pictures uploaded into Smugmug before long, good internet connections are somewhat limited.

until later... Having too much fun!

I am screaming that too Ron! It sounds like I thought it would be. Don, take care "down there" and remember to "keep left" as you are taking in the sites. That may be a lot for you all at one time! Keep us posted and we are all anxious to see the pics!

Good to hear from you Don. We are looking forward to reading about your adventure in New Zealand. Also, Paul & I really enjoyed your write up in the Feb. newsletter about Brazil. I was sitting on my patio and just laughing my head off about the "draws".My neighbors probably know by now that I'm nuts. Enjoy yourself and take care . Gail

Bacon (really ham) on top, streaked bacon is our bacon, but you order bacon you get ham.... bananas in the middle with maple syrup.

We took our first day off today from riding.. we are in Queenstown, more pictures later... maybe when I get home...

Tomorrow we have two nights at farm stay... the best stays... one of farm stays was the sheep station, the next is raindeer farm with more sheep...

The glaciers are really kewl and we stayed cool...we needed to layer up with gear from our normal riding in the North Island... we head to South tip in search of the general store where the orginal bike from the "fastest Indian" is stored in that general store.... hope we can find it..

                    more later folks.... take care...

That concoction looks good, and I did notice the bananas. After that meal, you wouldn't be hungry till brunch time.

Hopefully, you will find the old Indian.

                        Barber's shirts in New Zealand

                        Another interesting small world story....

Yesterday, we stopped at a cafe in the countryside....several bikes around, was a Ayers tour that we crossed paths... A couple there, said to me, hey we know you...do you remember us... turns out that they where my LT gathering last year up in WNC at Ironhorse..., they where from Michigan... then today, I met a couple from Ohio... he had is Barber's shirt on, I told him I wore mine yesterday...... motorcycling community is world wide and small too!

More from New Zealand later, may be few days before I post again... farm stay and then head south to find Bert Monroe's fastest Indian...that will be a find...

                          Bert Munro Fastest Indian

Here is link to a photo of Bert Munro Fastest Indian, I found in the Southern part of New Zealand, in a hardware store...there is a story there about why it is displayed there... more later on that...

I am doing a Flat Stanley project for a friend's son in Texas... Here is a link that Flat Stanley got to throw a leg over the Fastest Indian... many bikers can only look and take pictures...

For information on Flat Stanley, google it ....

                          Here is link:

We are finishing our three weeks here and Sunday we depart for the last leg in Australia.... where we meet a couple of friends that will guide us around...
