Hey y'all,
Suz'anne and I just finished our long awaited honey moon in Europe, after 23 years of wedded bliss
.
She is back in Alabama and I am back in Afghanistan. We had a great time and saw some pretty incredible sights (the Junfrau region of Switzerland), and some nasty, disappointing things (Venice and it's incredible pollution).
I will post some pictures when I get back down to my living area.
We travelled via eurorail and had the aid of an incredible book that Bob Steber gave me. Thank you so much Bob. I cannot express how easily that book made our trip. I studied it for a few months and used it many times a day on the train just planning the next days events.
We pretty muched winged this whole vacation. We had some ideas of what we wanted to see and we just jumped on a train and went. We found lodging as we went, or at most a day prior to arriving our destination. It made for a very fluid trip.
We did this with just back packs. I was so proud of Suz'anne when I met her in the airport in Frankfurt. She stepped through the gate with one back pack as we planned. It was not easy at times with trying to find laundry facilities, but we managed.
We spent a bundle of money as the $ is so weak now, but I didn't care. We did what we wanted and went where we wanted.
We met some interesting people on the trains and shared stories of where they had been and where we should avoid.
I am anxious to see you guys in October for the ribfest.
Later,
Steve
