Vic, if you do your own servicing then simply go online and order parts, supplies, and accessories much cheaper. If you don't do your own then maybe Terry Ware is the one to see.

      Bogart's closing

Who do you keep hearing that from? It would apear that there is too much invested there to just close the doors. I could understand them wanting to sell the business though. That might be a welcome option to consider.

I don't mimd doing my on service,it's fun.I would like to have a shop close to home, rather that going to Georgia or Tennesse. That being said, the ride to Atlanta BMW or Bloodworths is a great way to get out.

Well, I took Vic's note directly to David Sanders and asked him point blank if he'd care to comment on this rumor. Here's his reply:

"No, we're not closing. I think Mark Twain was quoted as responding to inaccurate reports of his death by saying "the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated". Ours too!

Every year between Christmas and New Years when we close for the Holidays this rumor gets started. After four years one would think the pattern would be familiar but alas no.

With a small staff running a very complex and demanding retail business it's impossible to operate with a small staff that's further stretched by revolving vacation times. Thus, we all recharge simultaneously.

We will also close one additional week beginning this summer in order for everyone to have time off for a summer family vacation. No doubt the hand wringers will interpret that as a sign of the collapse of Western Civilization too. I mean that in good humor. Like everyone, we get tired and need a break too. It's just more obvious in our business as like in Europe or in many types of manufacturing here in North America we just close completely for a week rather than limp along at 50% capability for several weeks as people vacation at various times.

We have started closing on Thursdays during the cold weather months as Thursdays are very slow in Winter. Next spring we will renew opening to the public on Thursdays. It may surprise people not familiar with retail automotive/motorsports that it costs about $10,000 per day to operate a business like this. If Thursdays are predictably going to be operated at a loss 12 to 16 weeks out of a year then it makes good business sense to not open those days.

We have over 150 motorcycles and scooters on our showroom floor and four technicians employed full time servicing the machines we sell.

We're still here. We invite all to stop by and see for themselves.

          Happy New Year

That is awful good to know. Being a biker I hate to see any bike related businesses going belly up because it makes the whole thing less fun. Plus less competition means the consumer gets reamed. But aside from that I JUST bought my first BMW and I'd hate to be orphaned like that.

              Motorcycle repair shop

THERE IS A SHOP IN JASPER, ALABAMA:

              HAND'S PERFORMANCE AND MACHINE
              CHRIS HAND--OWNER, MECHANIC

              205.221.3802

Chris has worked on my K1200-LT. He is an excellant technician and charges a reasonable fee for his work.

He has a small shop, which is relatively new. I predict his shop will be very successful.
