Don & Barbara left our home this morning at about 9 A.M. to continue their adventure. They arrived Monday evening and after unloading we went to Baton Rouge to Boutin's for a Cajun meal. Tuesday morning we took them on a tour of some of the more interesting places nearby with a homecooked lunch at a local eatery. After lunch we drove to Pierre Part to Lake Verret and the Atchafalaya Basin where they observed local commercial fishermen coming in with their catches of crawfish. Don said the tour wouldn't be complete without a trip to Cabela's in Gonzales where we had a good time browsing and shopping. We then went to the "Cajun Village" which is a bunch of old Acadian styled houses set up as gift and souvenir shops and antique farm equipment and tools. There is also a trail to a pond with a couple of very large gators. By this time we were getting hungry again so it was back to Pierre Part for an evening meal at Landry's Seafood Restaurant where we feasted on crawfish stew and seafood gumbo. Then it was back home to relax outside in the cool evening air and enjoy a few cold ones and enjoy being with good friends. We ejoyed their visit immensely and wish they could have stayed longer. They are such a joy to be with. We miss them already. We wish as many of you that we could join them on their trip. We hope they have a great and safe trip.
