Making a New List Folder or New List,
List will go under your Folder, names must be unique Ex: My Favorite Routes (Folder) My Favorite Waypoints (List) or whatever you wish to name a Folder or List.

    Two ways to make:
1... File, New, List Folder or List

How to Make New Folder or List.JPG

2....Right click on My Collections: select your choice , you and always rename, delete and other options or drag and move to other Folders.

How to Make New Folder or List2.JPG

Sample of Folder with List.... you can have as many list under a Folder as you chose....

How to Make New Folder or List3.JPG

My ABees has many list...under the folder. Notice in my Collection I have folder for Southeast, Then Alabama, Under Alabama I have ABees data listed in my list. I can move data or copy data from list to list, combine list data or drop a route into a data list to create a route of those POI or Waypoints.

      Many thanks Don.

Great idea to have a location on our forms to help fellow club members with BaseCamp's use.

I have a question: I have to change the Route Preferences for each route that I develop in order to have the route follow major roads. Is there a way to pre-set Route Preferences in BaseCamp for all future routes?

Yes, two ways... as shown from the Utilities, Go to Options, there you set all profiles... Motorcycle, car, dirt bike and so on.... when you set your custom speed settings if you get message box...remember to select NO or all routes will be re calculated with these settings.... This will be your MAIN properties box for all routes, unless you change your properties.

        Setting your profile.jpg

Also, from a selected route (double click on your route) the route information box appears with tabs for Properties, directions, notes, route options... click Route options, here you can set the properties for that route...thus if this routes was avoiding backroads, dirt roads, and so on... Try using CUSTOM for one certain route..... When you make changes, you will get the dialog box asking you if you want to change all the routes to your changed profile.... remember I said to select NO...this will only change this one route... If you select YES, every route will changed in your entire database of routes..

        Setting your profile2.jpg

I would suggest that you create a route and then apply different properties to that route.. to avoid items, check the boxes... Changing from Shortest distance to Fastest time will cover most routes...then add in things to avoid...

          Thanks Don.

That is what I have done for each new route. Unfortunately, the settings do not transfer to new routes. Fastest route is set. The problem is the avoidance settings which are defaulted to avoid major highways and interstates. I can't find the method to set default preferences for each of the future routes.

            Don.

Second try did it. Going to Utilities and selecting options, then changing the avoidance settings did the trick. I now remember your showing the procedure in your class.

            Many thanks.

I am on board with Basecamp...no problem. I am struggling with whether or not to replace the unit itself. Going to Alaska this year with Kalahan and Kruse. I have a Zumo 550 that is inthe neighborhood of five years old. Sometimes it does "funny" things but not with any frequency and it has always come to life...so far. But I would hate to get off that long trip and have it tank on me. So shopping around I have some interest in the Zumo 665 or the Zumo 350LM. Unfortunately the reviews I have read are not real kind to either of them.

I guess my question is if you (anybody reading this) were going to replace your GPS unit, which one would you buy and why?

I would send it to Garmin and let them trouble shoot it. That would be a lot cheaper than a new one. If they can't fix what is wrong they might just replace it with a new unit like they did for me.

                  Vance.

I replaced my 550 with a 665 a year or so ago, and have had no problem with it thus far. Are your sources suggesting another Garmin unit or another brand?

I believe the 660 and 665 are the same units except for the XM antenna. If you have the antenna, I shouldn't need the 665 and would save $100.00 dollars or so by purchasing the 660.

                    That's a good suggestion Jim.

My BMW NAVlll crashed and Garmin replaced it with a 550. In that I had a 550, I asked if they would replace it with the 665 and they did. It's worth a try.

Vance, heck I still using a Zumo 450...... you may do a HARD reset of the unit to solve most issues... if that don't work you can talk with Garmin about like what Jim said...depending on age and warranty you could get a refurbished model for a set fee...mine was $150 on the Zumo450...

Unit and Alaska... well after you get on the Alcan...It aint going to make no difference....everybody going North or South anyway...

Thanks Don, I hear ya. I have been pleased with the 550 I am just a little leery of it due to its age. Of course as you suggested in the class...paper maps...don't leave home without 'em! lol...I just thought it might be a good time to upgrade and get ALL the maps pre-loaded and the lifetime updates...yada...yada...yada. Just can't decide which unit to go for...if'n I could find the money somewhere....
Maybe I call Garmin and see if they'll upgrade me for the $150 and stay with the 550????
