  • Garmin BaseCamp Tutorials for Beginners ONLY!

I have created these Lessons for Beginners...the intend is to get someone over the learning curve... Best done by Lesson 1 and in order. These are unlisted YouTube videos.

If you are experienced user, they may be boring...but you may be able to pick up a tip or two..that is the sole intend.

The videos where made in conjunction with a seminar in Ohio for my MTF group...so hence the focal point was Berlin, Ohio and the Amish Country in that region...

Lesson 1 - The Garmin BaseCamp Map and Menu

Lesson 2 - Data storage for Garmin BaseCamp

Lesson 3 - Edit and OPTIONS

Lesson 4 - Create My Collection, your database

Lesson 5 - The Drawing Tools

Lesson 6 - Backup Database, Google Earth

Lesson 7 - Find, Search, Yelp, Icons and Data

Lesson 8 - Connecting your GPS and moving data

Lesson 9 - EXTRAS on your GPS unit

Lesson 10 - Routing with NEW ROUTE tool only

Lesson 11 - Routing with Waypoints your create

Lesson 12 - BaseCamp created route and then modify

Lesson 13 - Auto Routing using your data

Lesson 14 - Adding a stopover and your time element

Lesson 15 - Common Routing errors and how to avoid them.

    Hope this helps....

    Hey Don,

Many thank yous. I look forward to diving into the Basecamp learning curve again.

Now that you are comfortable working with Basecamp, do you like using it better than MapSourse or not?

Much better than MapSource... the data is before you in BaseCamp, you can move your MapSource files into BaseCamp into Lists and then into Folders...to sort.

      Hope this helps!

I will try to drop off on Friday at Ironhorse for you. I have to go to Maui on the 14th for work for three weeks. Guess I will see you at Eldridge. Fletcher said you were feeling better, hope it continues.

I know...a little off topic here...but....Greg as you head out of Kahului toward Hana you will pass this place http://www.mamasfishhouse.com/ right on the beach. EAT THERE! it is an awesome place in the evening for dinner and the food is outstanding! Also, be sure to turn off the road to Hana and head down to the village of Keanae. The banana bread is really good and you can eat it at the park down at the end of the road where the unbelievably blue waves crash on to the lava rock shore.Oh yeah and the sunrise on Haleakala...do that too!

Man...I am jealous now! You guys have fun and be sure to look around. We rented a jeep and put over 600 miles on it in three days!!

Don, I want to thank you again for all your hard work on these tutorials...they are awesome.Brother Rob is about to delve off into the world of Zumo and is a bit befuddled on how to get going with it. Shall we say a bit overwhelmed...
I strongly suggested he start right here...with Lesson 1! Although I have not been all the way through...I intend to do so!!

Thanks again! (Rob will thank you too!)
