Thanks for the notice John. Although I did not know him personally, your description and that picture tells me he was quite a guy.

The "beret" that Jim was wearing in this picture had a very large BMW roundel crocheted on top of it, and he wore it to all events. He was a fine gentleman and an interesting story teller. He loved BMW motorcycles. The club benefited greatly from his membership and support.

Bob, thank you, you, Vance and all others really missed out on not knowing Pop,
You would have loved him as we all did in those days and he would have loved both of you for your qualitities. Yep , Jamie he wore that embroided baret at all BMW events, it was made by the late Mary Hess wife of the late Gene Hess of Lancaster, Penna. only special people wore Marys baret.

Pop was our Uncle Remus spinning tales about ole Bier Rabbit, as Jamie implied. Sitting around the campfire he would tell us such tall tales, we would all wander is he pulling the wool over our eyes or could this be true ? One tale was he was out in Kansas headed to who knows where pushing the R 69S sidecar rig at 70 mph this when the speed limit had been set back to 55mph. Suddenely a blue light is on his taillight. Trooper pulls Pop over, never will forget that cold night at the Shilo Rally sitting by the campfire. Pop says Officer I have been rideing as fast as I could to try to find one of you, there has been a terrable traffic accident just a few miles up the Interstate. The Officer thanked Pop and set off Blue light and sireen blazing, Pop said he took the first exit, found a remote spot and camped there for the night. Now rather that was true or not, who knows, who cares, it was good warm entertainment. Oh , that cooler on the back of his bike was always full of warm, un iced Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer. He said in the South Pacific in WW 2
they had no ice so they drank their Beer hot, he liked it so that was the way it was from then on. Next time you are around Larry Camp ask him to tell you some Pop Adams stories. Bob, remember that R69S sidecar rig we went to Miss. to pick up a few years ago, well that was Pops old rig the one in the photo. My Grandson has already staked it out as his one day and his it will be.

My,my how many lives were enrichened by James C. Adams, but that is what our club is all about, alot of nice people. To quote the late Russ Simpson, when you purchase a BMW motorcycle you purchase more than a motorcycle you get a new way of life.

          Cheers

John, you are a great story teller also. You need to come to more meetings and tell stories around the campfire. Russ was correct in his assumption.

              Jim

Thank you, certainly need to do just that.

Strange mistake, by family, funeral home or local newspaper, I just picked up my Saturday local paper and it said James C. Adams funeral was today at 11.30 am. Too bad none of us were able to say good bye to him. Friday paper said the Funeral was to be Sunday 12 December at 11.30am. Surely Pop didnt have something to to with this ?? Seems he went out with his usual style. GOD speed James C. Adams

I remember him. Didn't get to be around him much as I was pretty new to the club and small child, so we didn't get to go to many meetings and rallies. But the few times I was around him he was quite the interesting fella.

I'm pretty sure it was Shiloh rally I remember the most.

He'll be missed. Just like some of our other cast of wonderful characters, Russ Simpson, Harold Crowe, Carson Wright, and a few others who were the staple story tellers around our campfires. Going through our lists these past couple of weeks during renewal time, I also have been thinking of David Bollinger, Ann Carter, and many others who made me feel as if this was definitely my FAMILY.

God Speed to them all. You know they have the club rockin down the golden twisties in that "alternate universe" just waitin on us !!
