  • Jamie Jackson (Our Editor) in the Hospital

Let's all give Jamie Jackson a prayer or two folks. He's in the hospital with no doubt pneumonia. He got worse and worse every day after the Christmas Party and I've been on his case BAD to go, and finally today he gave up and they've got him on IV steroids, breathing treatments, etc etc.He would not listen to Malvene who has been trying to get him to go ever since then, and with me and Paul Orr and others who have called his resistance finally broke down. Stubborn !!!!!!!!

He's in St. Vincents Hospital in Birmingham in room 502.

I'm sure he love a visit or two but don't plan to stay long because just talking really taxes him. And if you call on the phone please dont' make him talk long. He's very labored in his breathing.

But I'll keep you posted as I plan to go by there at least once a day till he's better.

I'm taking him a lighted, shanging color nowman for his room to cheer him.

I would not suggest flowers or plants as they can interfere with breathing sometimes.

    Jamie,
Sorry to hear you are sick, here's praying you a speedy recovery. I will take it easy on all the folks while you are away since you can't defend them. I knew you were having weak moments when you said you were admiring Steve and Jim in their Stetsons.

I just spoke with Jamie and he is feeling much better today (although he did not sound like it!) He is very appreciative of everyone's concern but suggested that everyone stay away (except for maybe the girls ). He thinks he should be released by Sunday if the breathing treatments continue to be as successful as they have been to this point.

Also keep Malvene in your prayers. I talked with her this morning and she is at home with what appears to be the same crud! She has been to the Dr. though (something Jamie waited too long to do ).

They sure have a plate full right now.......

Malvene always has her plate full - taking care of Jamie and competing with Jill. Bet he carried the darn thing into the hospital with him. Malvene swears they are having an affair.

Jamie, listen to that doc and to Malvene! We need you! Who else can do the job(s) that you do? Get better, get well, and give Malvene a break!

Malvene, you also need to take it easy and get well. Keeping Jamie together and out of trouble is taxing enough when you're feeling well, but when you're under the weather, it has to be rough!

I went to the hospital after work yesterday and Jamie was breathing much better and could talk without losing all his breath. He does have oxygen tubes on, and has a medicated breathing treatment every few hours and IV steroids. But his improvement over one day was great. He thinks they will keep him until sunday but will evaluate then and he will stay if they don't see enough improvement.

Malvene does not have his crud. She was diagnosed with a kidney infection, which was the source of her pain and feeling bad. She was given PLENTY of medication and told to go home and rest. She should actually be better by today.

Jamie is not contagious so if anyone in the area wants to go by and see him, please feel free. I'm sure he would enjoy the diversion. It doesn't tax him to talk now and he and I had a great visit until the nurse came to make him do another breathing treatment. He can't talk while he's doing that so I went on an left at that point.

To clarify where he is. He is at St. Vincents hospital EAST. NOT the one downtown Birmingham. He's in room 502 there. Phone is 205-838-3000
                      Room number is 205-838-6502

Addresis 50 Medical Park East Drive..... Zip 35235 if you want to Mapquest it for directions for a visit.

Just returned from a two day trip to Tennessee to see friends and relatives. Sorry to hear you landed in the hospital Jamie and wish you a speedy recovery.

Jamie, I know you know that Pneumonia isn't something to to be trifled with. Please do what the doc's say and when you think you are feeling better, continue listening. Sic um Connie, Malvene and Paul. This sage advise goes for Malvene too.

Both of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

                          Update on Jamie and Malvene

Just talked to Malvene. Her malady has not eased up. They are thinking that instead of a kidney infection that she may have a kidney stone and she has an appt this afternoon for an xray and reevaluation.

Jamie did NOT get out of the hospital yesterday as they had hoped. He is still in there. The Docs have decided his may not be pneumonia after all but Acute Asthmatic Bronchitis with bronchial spasms. They MAY let him out tomorrow but he's very shaky and can't even do crossword puzzles, mostly due to the steriods he thinks. His breathing is still better but not yet where they are comfortable letting him go home. When he does get released they will be sending breathing machine home with him. He is getting the breathing treatments every 6 hours now, where they were doing it every 3 hours.

Both of these dear folks need some cheering up with all this sickness right here at Christmas. Jamie is bored to the extreme there in that hospital just sittin with the drivel that's on TV. And Malvene is really feeling poorly but at least for now she's mobile.

I'll update again after she finds out what her tests come out like this afternoon and whether Jamie gets released from the hospital tomorrow or not.

does Jamie have a DVD player with his TV in the hospital? If so I will get Don Little to send the motorcycle movies I sent to Don when he first injured his leg.
