I heard that yesterday Paul Thorne was involved in an accident with a truck that ran him off the road. Can anyone confirm this or provide any details?

Hey everyone, thanks for your inquiries. I am sore but O.K. Yesterday a.m. Gail and I were headed west on Hwy 8 to do lunch in Water Valley, Ms. I was in front and came upon a one ton truck pulling a goose neck trailer. As soon I got to a passing lane, I pulled out to pass and when I got even with the truck, he turned into me. He hit the right side of my bike, taking it out from under me. I was lucky I didn't go under the trailer because I slid along in front of it. My bike needs a saddle bag, turn signals and valve cover, but I was able to ride it home. My biggest problem is with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Shall I just say, the officer that worked the accident is of the same persuasion as the guy who hit me . The officer was not concerned that the guy didn;t have a tag or ANY brake lights ot turn signals on his trailer. Also he didn't speak with any witnesses ( I had two), or issue any tickets. I drove to the district office in Starkville this morning and met with them. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again for all your concerns. Paul Thorne

Glad to hear that you were not seriously injured. The truck driver should definitely be charged. Keep the heat on with the authorities.

I am sorry to hear about your accident. I am so glad you were not seriously injured.

Sorry to say but most police departments know very little about investigating and determining fault in an accident involving a motorcycle.
