Andy of A & G Motorsports involved in a fatal crash

I am saddened to report that Andy, while riding his motorcycle this evening with his 5 year old son, had a collision with an SUV. Andy did not survive, but thankfully his son did and is at Children's Hospital. Neighbors are helping his wife and kids and our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Thanks for reporting this Bob. I heard about the crash but did not hear the name. We are all certainly saddened to hear this and Mari and I send prayers to the family. I hope is son is OK I have not heard a report on him other than he was at Children's. Very sad.

As you may know, Jill, my 12 year old son Alton, and I knew Andy for around 10 years. My son rides a KTM because of "Mr. Andy," as my son knows him. So many memories and fun just talking with Andy over the years, though I had heard much about his family, we had not met them. Jill, Alton and I last spent a couple hours with Andy in November catching up on how his plans were coming along for the next big phase of his shop. We are all deeply saddened by his loss. If anyone that knew Andy would like to reach out, it would mean a lot to me and others to see your stories, photos, comments and remembrances of Andy on my Facebook page, if you choose to share. Andy Carroll, our favorite Irishman, will be missed by many, including my family.

I too had met Andy on a couple of occasions and was taken with his gift for never meeting a stranger. How sad that he's not with us now. As with others, our prayers for his family are offered.

Sad news to share with our neighbors.
This past Wednesday evening Andy Carroll was driving home from work with his 5 year old son Matthew on his motorcycle.
Near the intersection of Highway 119 and Brook Highland Parkway, Andy's motorcycle collided with a Lexus SUV.
Andy was pronounced dead at the accident scene, his 5 year old son Matthew was taken to Children's Hospital and is in ICU with fractures to his pelvis.
God sent angels to protect Matthew. No news when Matthew will be discharged.
Please keep Andy's young wife Emily and family in your prayers during this sad time.

Some good news.

Mat is out of ICU.

Jill, Alton and I put together a care package for Andy's son, Matthew yesterday and took it to him at Children's Hospital. We met with Andy's wife, Emily, and Matthew for a short time. She is a very sweet and strong woman given what she's been through previously and is going through now. She expressed her truly deep appreciation for all of the friends that are showing their support at this time. And Matthew, with his pelvis broken in three places, was sitting up on the edge of his bed ready to get going, all bright eyed and eager. An amazing little man. I told him he must be like a superhero, and he loved hearing that! I learned that Matthew rides the my son's older little Yamaha dirtbike I gave Andy some years ago as a fixer-upper. He looked at Alton and gave a huge, "Thank you!" There is much of Andy's spirit in that little boy, and I have no doubt that he will be recovering from his injuries soon.

I have shared the information for the much needed GoFundMe account on my Facebook page and on my TerraMoto Outifitters page. I also have a contact at Briarwood High School where the young lady went to school who was involved in the accident driving the SUV. They will also be sending out the link to the GoFundMe account by email to all of the parents and others in the school community.

Continue to keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers, as this will be something that will be a challenge for Emily and the boys for a long time to come.

FUNERAL DETAILS BELOW
I spoke with Emily just a short time ago. Andy's son who was injured in the motorcycle crash, Matthew, is going home tomorrow, which is great news. He is working hard on everything the hospital staff asks him to do for his recovery, even when it hurts. He has quite the tough little fighting spirit.

Andy's funeral will be this Saturday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Ridout's Forest Crest Cemetery in Leeds. 5730 U.S. 78, Birmingham, AL 35210.
Emily requested that I share the funeral details and she expressed that she wants as many friends as possible to come as an honor to Andy.

It would mean so much if you could please come this Saturday to show your support.
