Just wanted to let everyone know Stve has been in River View Hosptal, Gadsden since 1/17/08. He has received 2 pints blood, kidney function isn't normal, and insulin levels & blodd pressure has been fluctuating. He would love to hear fom ya'll 256-543-5506 (hospital) or 256-504-5434 (CP). He's really tired of being there and talking with friends would lift his spirits.

I'm sorry to report the news hasn't been good for Steve today. The doctors told us today that Steve will have to start dialysis soon his kidney function is down to 14.8%. He has the options of going to a dialysis center 3 times a week or home dialysis. Home dialysis involves a port, in his stomach area, and daily connection to a dialysis machine. He has also developed pnemonia since he's been in the hospital. Please pray for him and I know he would appreciate calls 256 543 5506 or 256 504 5434. Steve & I are still separarted and I work in B'ham now so I can't visit as often as I'd like. So please if you're in the area visit him or call him I know it'll lift his spirits.

Steve Irwin Update

Steve wanted me to let everyone who has called or visited know that he appreciates the support and prayers. Steve is still in Riverview Hospital, Gadsden. Room phone 256 543 5506, room # 506 and he does have his cp w/him 256 504 5434. He is going to have surgery tomorrow morning 7am to have a Permacath installed ? (don't know a better word for it) so he can begin dialysis. Doctors now want him to begin dialysis asap because his kidney function continues to deteriorate. The fluid buildup & poisons in his system have made him feel bad. His spirits are up tho and I think once he starts dialysis he will start to feel better & maybe get to go home. Could anyone recommend a Nephrologist (kidney disease) preferably UAB/Kirkilin Clinic or St. Vincents, B'ham? I would really like for Steve to see a more experienced specialist in this field. I've been doing some research online but any input would be appreciated. Thanks again for the calls & visits because I know it has made him feel better & lifted his spirits. Anything changes I'll post an update.

Steve is doing better they started dialysis yesterday and have already removed almost 12lbs of fluid/toxins from his body. Needless to say he is feeling better. The permacath site is still sore, but better than yesterday. Pneumonia is improving also. Still no word on when he'll get to go home. Thanks again for all the calls and to everyone who visited. Steve tells me about who called or came by and I can tell it has made him feel better.

Steve's realeased from Hospital

Good news! Steve was release from the hospital this evening. He is feeling alot better but weak. He will begin going to a dialysis center 3 times a week next week. Thanks again for all the support it has meant alot to him.
