Bob passed away peacefully in his sleep during the night.
He was in no pain and had no regrets.

From David, Bob's Son...

Our Father, Robert Metzl, passed away last night at 10:00 central time. He was resting peacefully at home and his needs were well tended to with the help of so many wonderful people.

The staff at Huntsville Hospital and ICU as well as Hospice Family Care and Dad's doctors were amazing. They took such good care of Bob (and his family) through this difficult time.

I'd like to thank everyone for all of your kind words and gestures over the past several months, they really meant the world to Bob and to his family.

Currently we are preparing two separate services, as Bob's wishes were for a small affair. We will keep everyone posted on any details shortly. He did however agree to a "Bob Party" as opposed to a memorial service, which would be for everyone and especially more manageable for those not living in the Huntsville area. This is tentative at this point but somewhere in the neighborhood of the end of February. We already have a location in mind.

And of course as a practical man as my Father was, please do not feel a need to send flowers to the family, a simple note or card will mean very much to us and Dad's favorite charities will be listed in his obituary for donation purposes.
