The corner worker's name was William Hance, age 65. He removed the bird from the track but dropped his radio so was bending down to pick it up. Sutton couldn't see him of course and she was at top speed since there were no flags and it was a hot track so she just ran right over him. He came over her bike and broke her neck instantly. He lived a little bit longer but not by much.
Her husband was at the track that day as well since they race together. So on top of her accident, he crushed his hand on his bike trailer afterwards and had to go to the hospital himself.
Sutton's service was very nice. Holly's wife is taking this very hard so there was no announcement or service. However, his friends plan to have a service on June 11.
This may be more than you want to know but I think it's better to have the facts known. Please remember both families.
