    ABEES SURVEY ???

Last week I saw a scenic waterfall that was so beautiful that I got choked up and shed a few tears at the thought that I should be in the presence of such a beautiful and serene place. I would never have even known about it, or had a reason to go there if it weren't for our club's outstanding ABEES guide. I am curious what the other club members would rate as the best and worst on the list? Please email me back at AbnCavScout@Yahoo.com with what you rate as the best (or top 5, or 10) in each category of Points of Interest; Covered Bridges; Vineyards; Courthouses; Churches; Restaurants; BBQ Joints; Waterfalls; and Power Dams. I am also interested if a member considers any points as not worth seeing for any reason, - like the service or food was bad; or it was located off of a barely used goat trail that your bike (or skills) were unable to navigate; or it just wasn't interesting. I will consolidate the responses and post them in the future.

    Thanks,

    Rodger

Some of my favorites include the Barbers Motorcycle Museum, and the Alabama Capitol Complex as top POI's, followed closely by Confederate Memorial Park, and the National Infantry and National Civil War Naval Museums; Swann CBR; Dreamland BBQ in Northport for the hands down best BBQ sammich; and after the very public DeSoto Falls, Little River Falls, and Noccalulu Falls, I really liked the serenity and beauty of Kinlock Falls. I'm undecided on Restaurants, Wineries, Churches and Courthouses. My favorite roads include: C-2 AL Hwy-25; C-5 Cheaha Skyway; C-17 Coosa CR-14; C-SE-2 CR-29; NE-1 and NE-2 Little River Canyon; and NW-3 Natchez Trace.

Some of my least favorites include: any Courthouse that is in a building that is less than 100 years old; also any church that is in a building that is less than 100 years old; any falls that are not worth the effort to get there/back; and any POI with an above nominal entry fee (including my favorite Barbers museum.)

      Apathy ...

As of today, there has been 673 views of this post and not one single response. There was a point to this survey. It won't work if folks are too apathetic to contribute

Any road with a hill and curve is my favorite.

Good point Rodger! You know...a place I have had on my mind for some reason for the last several weeks is the rim road around Little River Canyon. Many will know this is in NE AL and as you stand at the edge of one of the many overlooks, you can't help but feel really small in God's magnificent creation! I have have been there when it's hot...I have been there when it's cold...the problem is it has been too long since I have been there at all!! Hmmmmm.......

Right you are John, and it helps if there is a good burger somewhere on the road.
