  • NEW RECORD for EXT. AL RIDE

Gail & I have just returned from our second attempt at the Extreme Alabama ride. This time our reputation was at stake, so we pulled out all the stops. We rode 1347 miles in 22 hours and 41 minutes (under the 24 hour barrier). We completed all the required seven stops with pics and gas receipts as required (with our bikes in the pictures). These have been forwarded to Mr. Steber. I believe this is almost 100 miles longer and over 2 hours shorter than the prior short lived record ......... Paul Thorne

Congratulations Paul and Gail. You guys continue to amaze.

Your statement "Nothing like kicking some young guy's ass" gives the rest us OFs hope. But, one of the "young guys" made it on a 30 plus year old motorcycle.

Glad to see the funny face at the end of your "I slowed Paul down" statement. I've seen you ride and would have fun trying to keep up with you especially while crossing creeks.

Doing the Extremely Alabama challenge one time is a grand accomplishment, but riding it twice in a few months is over the top.

[QUOTE=Gail;1335]I am sure that I slowed Paul up
I wasn't trying to be funny, as this is the truth. He is the reason I even want to ride. There is no way I could have done this ride without his planning and encouragement. He is my best buddy . Paul should ride in the "real" Ironbutt competition, as he is a mad man when he sets his cap for a goal Gail

Attention, attention, attention; now hear this, now hear this, now hear this.

This is your Dutch Uncle speaking . Our challenge is to go to the seven extreme locations in Alabama in under 36 hours and any official award given will reflect only the completion within 36 hours. You guys have done an unbelievable job (some have said something about being nuts, which I don't believe) in completing the challenge more quickly. It may be possible to complete the circuit in less than 22 plus hours, but it is too dangerous to try. We want to enjoy seeing you guys in one piece at our get-togethers. Riding continuously for 22 plus or minus hours is just asking for trouble so enjoy your outstanding accomplishments and please don't try to compete doing this in an even less time.

                    Your Dutch Uncle
