  • June, 2008 Club Ride to Little River Forest

Everyone is welcome to join us for a club ride to the June gathering at Little River Forest. The announced dates for the meeting are Saturday & Sunday June 28-29, 2008, but some of us are going Friday the 27th so that we can make a second ferry crossing of the Alabama River on the little 1930's side paddle wheel Davis Ferry which does not operate on weekends. There are some good restaurants in Atmore for dinner Friday night, but I usually grab a pizza at the Shell Station a few miles north of Little River Forest on Hwy 21.

We will meet at the Alabaster Chevron I-65 exit 238. Please be ready to roll at 8:30 am after a short riders briefing with a full tank of fuel and an empty bladder. We will make a quick rest stop at the Selma Chevron on Hwy 22, ½ mile north of Hwy 80 and should be there by 9:50 am. We need to depart no later than 10: am to be sure that we make the 12:00 sailing of the Gee's Bend ferry. Anyone wishing to join us for the rest of the ride is welcome.

We will stop for fuel after crossing the Alabama River on the Gee’s Bend Ferry in Camden (130 miles from Alabaster) and have Lunch there too. Our arrival at Little River Forest should be around 4 PM.

Bob, what route are you taking from the Chevron in Selma to Camden? I would like to join you guys on the ferry, but I plan on joining up with you in Selma.

    Thanks,

      Great Dave.

If you come on your R90s, I will ride mine.

I will send you my Garmin route via email, because I do not remember how to attach it here.

Looking forward to seeing you in Selma.

I think/know I will pass on riding the R90S that far. I am not tough enough for that. I wouldn't know what to do without all my 'doodads'.

        Thanks for the routes.

          Welcome.

You are tough enough, but being without dodads is another thing.

See you in Selma Friday week

            Bob,
I will either meet you at the Chevron or somewhere along the way. Sort of like last time. Looking forward to it. Gotta check out the privy, too, don't ya know.
