Camping in Grant on Bedgoods Farm

I did not see any posts on Camping in Grant on Bedgoods Farm. Is that still an event? Is it for friday and saturday night? Can you bring a camper? Is there elec and water available? Thanks

Mike,
You can bring a camper. Basically primitive camping. Electricity is very limited. A couple of outlets in the barn. You'd have to park close and they will be first come first serve. This is also where we will be cooking, so you can't block the door. No place to hook up the water except where we will be cooking. If you have a "Y" or some type of splitter you could hook up there. You'd probably have to have 50' of hose and 50' of ext. cord. I do have to warn you that the outside faucet has about 190 lbs of pressure. There is a bathroom available, but the popular vote was to let that be the ladies room. Porta-potties will be avaliable and a shower tent for everyone else. Maybe the ladies won't mind if others share the inside shower. Friday arrivals are OK too. Last year only one person showed up on Friday, but it was a low turn out because of the national. Plenty of places to eat around Guntersville and plenty of good roads to ride.

There is also a poker run that Saturday if anyone is interested. It is sponsored by the Guntersville Professional Firefighters Association and the proceeds go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. $25 per person entry fee. $10 to the purse and $15 to the MDA. First place will be 60% of the purse and second place will be 40%. The flyer says food will be served at the end of the ride. I'll try to get more details in case anyone is interested.

Bedgoods Farm

Ok I have the extension cords/hose so I will bring the camper on Saturday. We just got it and feel the need to camp in it. What is the Poker Run about? I have not participated in one before.

Well, it's a long way up there so I thought I would just see what kind of road kill we come across . We usually leave early in the morning, so there should be plenty of fresh meat to pick from the night before. Kinda makes you wonder about that camp stew, don't it? . Sure does taste good though!

Not too many armadillo's this far up, but racoon and possum are plentiful.

Preparations have begun. I had tractor problems and we were without a bush hog for about 2 months. Things were kind of grown up. I was having problems getting the correct parts (anyone been there before?). I finally gave up and bought another tractor. It was delivered Thursday afternoon. Everything has been cut at least once. We had a pretty good thunderstorm blow through yesterday and it left a few limbs on the ground. We've been picking up this morning. Taking a break from the heat right now, but things are starting to look up. I've got a few more shady places cleared off this year. Looks like the temps are going to be around 70 at night. Should be OK for sleeping. Looking forward to seeing everyone on top of this little mountain called Grant.

Unable to attend

Bill & Beverly,

We are sorry that we will be unable to attend your campout and experience your hospitality this coming weekend.
Our daughter and grandchildren from Virginia are visiting and we don't get to see them enough as it is.
Compounded is the problem that I haven't got Angie's bike back on the road yet. Hope to have it running by Thurs though. Had to restore the inside of the tank and it is a 4 day process.

Hopefully, I may break loose Sat. afternoon and ride over for a while. I really need to ride somewhere. Haven't been riding except for about 20 miles in the past 6 weeks. Got withdrawal bad.

I've done the tank process before. I totally understand. Hope everything else is OK with the bike and hope you enjoy your visit. There are some nice roads up here if you do get a chance to get out.

The water at the barn has 190 psi. I didn't think you would want to hook your camper to that, so I rigged up a regulator with hose fittings. I've also got a guage that hooks to a hose fitting. We can set the pressure at what you want when you arrive.

Porta Potties were delivered yesterday. New ones again this year. They even have hand sanitizers in them. He said they were reserved for special customers. ( My Mom always said I was special. All the kids had another name for it. ) I've got a little weed eating to do today, and then make a couple more signs. I'll put the signs out in the morning in case anyone decides to come tomorrow. Plenty room to camp and lots of good roads. I know it's been hot, but it's usually a couple of degrees cooler up here than in Guntersville and even more of a difference than the big cities. I've cleared off more shaded areas so everyone should be able to at least have afternoon shade, if not all day. There's always Cathederal Caverns about 5 miles away if anyone wants to cool off during the day. I haven't been yet, but they say it's 68 degrees all the time.
