  • BMW Volunteers needed for The Barber Vintage Festival Oct. 8-10, 2010

    http://barbervintagefestival.org/

The 6th Annual Barber Vintage Festival will be held the weekend of October 8-10, 2010.

... Even though we will be manning our BMWMOAL Display Tent, - ALL BMWMOAL Volunteers will still be required to purchase admission to the event. 3-Day admission is $35. until 8 Oct. when the price goes up to $45.; 1-Day passes are $20. until 8 Oct. when the price goes up to $25.

The more club members that volunteer to help out reduces the time needed for each member to man the tent. ALSO, the more club members that show up means that we will all have a bigger party with each other.

We also need a few restored vintage BMW's to display. I don't know who in our club has what, but we would like to get at least one really old 1920's-1930's BMW, and one from the 1940's-1950s, and an early 1980's GS to lead up to the new S1000RR that has been offered.

Sign-up here if you're interested in helping out.

    Thanks,

    Rodger

      Barbers ...

That is what I would assume based upon the times posted on the Barbers webpage. I went last year and even though it was rainy, I had a great time all weekend. I am planning on being there just about the whole weekend, but it would be really nice if people can spell me (or others) so that I can get something to eat, or go look around, or take some pics. The more people that stop by and can pull just a little bit of time here and there will give make it a little bit easier on those of this committing our weekend to do this for our club.

I sure wish I could be there. I've gone every year. I would love to help at the booth, but I'm working out of town again that weekend.
Thanks for those of you who do go and showcase the club !!!

Never been to a vintage weekend at Barbers, so what to expect in regard to:

              Parking
Dry camping with a enclosed motorcycle trailer (chariot)?
              Tent camping?
Location of our Alabama Club tent?
              Food?
Beside chair and cooler, camera, other must things.?

Vance was supposed to meet with the Barbers folks this last Tuesday to get a walk through of where we are supposed to be. From what I assume, it will be the the first area down to the right past the "will-call" gate entrance. If you've ever been to any event at Barbers where they had the "Wall of Death," ~ then that is the area I think we'll be.

There is parking all around the outer loop road, and in several parking areas all around the the track and loop road. There are several designated camping areas. From what I recall, I remember plenty of portolets, but I dont remember power hook-ups, and I dont remember shower facilities. Your best bet is to go to the Barbers web page, or even call them for info.

You are correct Rodger. The booth will be located in the "Expo" area that is immediately inside the main gate and to the right...in fact where they did have the Wall of Death set up...and where it will be again for Vintage.

the have poured a concrete drive down there and we will be placed along there somewhere. At the time I was out there the layout had not been finalized. Tim may have this info by now or shortly. anyway that is where the booth will be. It won't be too hard to find in there though....look for the tall BMW flags!

                          Folks At Barbers ...

I was there yesterday at setup and there was about 4-5 of us there. I think Mari will be coming back with Vance, so that should be six of us. But at the same time there is lots going on to see, so I'm sure everyone would like a break during the weekend for tourist time. In addition to the thousands of bikes attending and ridden there, and the vintage bike show, and vintage bike races, and "Century Race" (race of 100+ y.o. bikes) and the vintage bike auction, and the vintage bike swap meet, and the Air Show, and the "Wall of Death" and vintage enduro races, and trials display, and antique fire trucks, and the LARGEST Motorcycle Museum on the planet !!! ... (plus I'm sure other things too), anyone who shows up will certainly be appreciated !

When you get to the Barbers Museum take the gate entrance to the left by the "Will Call" booth, and once inside the park we'll be at the first entrance to the right and down the hill and straight to the front right next to the Veteran BMW Motorcycle Club (also pretty close to the portolets.) I am looking forward to seeing any club members drop by !!! (-=3
