Below is an email I received from Shawn Thomas, RawHyde Adventures - BMW Off Road Training Academy. I attended a presentation at BMW Motorcycles of Birmingham recently and this is the follow up email. There is a lot of info, but I need some suggestions. Can someone please suggest a location near B'ham to hold this clinic with appropriate terrain. Also, a suggestion for a short approx 1 hour ride after to put these skills to the test.
First, here are some details regarding the Clinic. Please note that the specific meet time and location will be determined by BMW of Birmingham… So it would be prudent to RSVP with them soon and keep a lookout for additional correspondence on the matter:
Clinic Date: Saturday, July 7th, 2012
(The Clinic usually takes an entire day to complete… Please plan accordingly!)
Please RSVP With BMW of Birmingham! Max of 30 riders, first RSVPs until slots are filled.
Over the course of the day, we will work on several elements of off-road riding, including:
ü Gear and Equipment: Prepping you and your motorcycle Adventure Riding
ü Balance & Posture
ü Obstacle Avoidance
ü Throttle, Clutch, and Braking Control
ü Turning & Maneuvering
Preparing for the Clinic

The Dirty Dozen
One of the goals here is to put together groups of local Adventure Riders that are willing to get out there and, well, ride! The “Dirty Dozen” program was designed to assist—and reward—folks that do just that. Many of you have expressed interest in joining the BMW of Birmingham Dirty Dozen and hosting some rides and events, and were asked to place a star or asterisk by your name on the signup sheet. If you did, you will receive a Dirty Dozen email shortly. If you are interested in learning more and did not indicate so, please reply to this email and I will get back to you with the details.

As I mentioned during the presentation, Facebook is a very important part of the program we are building. That being said, I encourage you to join the Facebook page, read and reply to some posts, and post a quick note of your own! The more we visit and post on the page, the more Adventure Rides and events will be available to enjoy…

Please note that you must sign up for the training between now and the date of your Clinic in order to receive the Klim Jacket. You will receive your jacket once you have completed your training:
