The 2011 Barber Vintage Festival was a tremendous success, so be sure and mark you calendars for the 2012 event: October 12, 13, & 14, 2012.
BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta's Linda and Bob Wooldridge have graciously provided our club with the booth space at their expense. They will also have their own booth out there so be sure to go by and say Hi to them too. THANK YOU LINDA AND BOB !!
We will be selling our 2013 Bike raffle tickets on the G650GS that we will be giving away at next summer's Great Chicken Rally on Memorial weekend, so come on out and get your chances early. We will also be taking new membership applications. Can't wait to see you all and meet some of you who come by to visit.
Record breaking crowds are expected once again this year. Advanced ticket sales are 30% ahead of last year, all camping has been sold out for weeks now, although I've heard that Barber is trying to make arrangements for those who wish to camp off of the property. Weather appears to be near perfect, warm days, cool nights. Triumph is the featured bike this year (in my "opinion," we all need to contact BMW Motorrad USA and start a campaign for them to takeover as Sponsors!) For those who haven't been, The Barber Vintage Festival is a great way to celebrate the motorcycle and the motorcycle enthusiasm that we all share. The festival offers access to motorcycles and the legends that made the sport what it is today. Also available is the motorcycle parts swap meet that can help you locate that part needed to get your latest project back on the road. Several special programs take place in the museum during this event. This event is rapidly turning into one of the best motorcycle events in the world!
The "Ace Corner" is a new feature this year at Barber's. There is an additional fee to enter into the inside of the track where you can sit back, relax and watch the races from the best seat in the house (Turn 17). It is also the only place you can grab a cold beer in the entire Barber Motorsports Park. Enter your bike and take in the sights from the ride-in bike show, make a last minute entry to win the custom CB750 Dime City Cycles (built in partnership with Iron & Air Magazine) and visit with dozens of other builders and industry folk! Also on Saturday night on the 13th, Motus Motorcycles (MADE IN BIRMINGHAM, AL) is sponsoring a "Bike Night in Lakeview" at "Slice" Stone Pizza & Brew. We're invited to ride over to 725 29th Street South, 35233 and hang out. Slice will have specials for those with helmets/Barber tickets.
