  • Raccoon Mountain Rendezvous

Well doggone it; I just went on line to check on theRaccoon Mountain TVA Pumped-Storage Plant and found out that it is closed forrepairs until fall. It is a very interesting free attraction and is overlooked by most everyone.

Please do not misread this post; I am not saying that theRaccoon Mountain Campground is closed, only the TVA project which is in no way related to our meeting/campout.

At least youcan read about it here:

Gail, please don't try to create more confusion about our club meetings...that is my job, and I am good at it.

Due to my mother's passing, Mari and I will not be able to attend the meeting this weekend. We had reserved a cabin waaaaay back in February for this meeting and I will be calling to cancel it tomorrow. Just a heads up if someone wants a cabin. I am not sure if they are sold out or not.

Sorry we cant make it this weekend. Have a great time and everyone ride safe!

Jamie I visited the raccoon mt project last week and only the visitor center is closed. you can still ride to the top of the mt and see the inlet which by the way is taller than the empire state building. and also the dam and outlet at the bottom of the mt. The entrance is only a short ride from the campground maybe two miles. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Tommy

            Update on my cabin rental....
I have attempted to cancel my cabin for this weekend at Raccoon Mountain. It seems they have a one week cancellation policy and I have prepaid. I was told this afternoon that if the cabin was rented they would refund the money, otherwise...no love.

So here is the skinny....I have rented Cabin #6 and paid $46 for said cabin on Saturday night. It has a bathroom....and everything....If anyone is interested in it, you can have it. I can either tell them you will be using it instead of me and no money should change hands up there...or if you want to pay them, I suppose they will refund my credit card. Either way is fine with me and frankly if it still costs me $46 I would rather GIVE that to a fellow club member than the campground. Again, if anyone wants it, let me or the Raccoon Mountain Campground know...

Ya'll have a good time and ride safe!
