  • January meeting

Please disregard the dates for the meeting in the newsletter. Doing that page at work and getting distracted I ended up looking at two diferent calendars and getting interrupted several times before I finished that meeting details page. One calendar on my desk was turned to 2007 and the one I pulled from my purse is 2009. The 2008 calendar was of course the only one it seems I didnt' look at !!
The meeting is Jan. 26th/27th of course.

    So dont' blame Jamie !!!!!!

Connie, enough martyrdom; I share the blame. As I said, "Any editor worth his salt would have caught that". But sometimes it may be good to print errors just to see if anyone is reading the thing.

I think there is a get together for breakfeast at the Oasis on I-10 Saturday mornings, is that a regular thing or is it mentioned online when it is happening?

It happens every Saturday morning year around. What Jamie is talking about is the January meeting of the BMWMOAL. They move that meeting around the state. The Oasis meeting is a local thing that is promoted by the BMWMOAL.

I am a member of BMWOA but do not belong to any specific chapter yet. I have joined this forum to check out what you guys do and how close some of the get togethers are. Thanks for clarifying all this.

The BMWMOAL (BMW Motorcycle Owners of AL) is truely a State Club. I belonged to the BMWMOGA (BMW Motorcycle Ownwes of GA) for years and 99% of their members lived within 100 miles of Atlanta. South of Macon there was very little activity. All of their meetings were in the North GA area. The BMWMOAL meets all over the state and has a number of members in the South of LA (Lower AL). They have a meeting in January every year to decide where the meetings for that year will be. Every since I have been a member its been at the Training Center in Montivalo, AL. Its true that most of the members reside around Birmingham and Huntsville area, but they have a lot of members all around the state. If your looking for an active club that will give you a lot of oppurtunities to ride your motorcycle its a good one for that.

                    Right on Wrong Way!
Bayou..glad to have you on the boards. I suggest you visit the group at the Oasis (but take them with a grain of salt ). Seriously that is a diverse group and they have a lot of fun. We would love to have you on board with the club. As Tim stated, we are a statewide club with our meeting the last weekend of each month. We also have a great rally in Huntsville every year and a newsletter each month. Pretty darn good value for 20 bucks a year!
Anyone on here will be glad to answer any questions. Looking forward to have you in the group!

                      Great, Thank You!

There is a riding group out of Tallahasse, then there are the Poverty Riders who seem to be from all over. You guys seem to be the closest group around Pensacola for BMW's. I think technically my RA membership is out of Tampa or somewhere down there. I belong to BMWMOA national as I mentioned.

The first time I can make the Oasis get together I will. Hope to see you there.

We will open the facility about noon on Saturday.

Folks will be arriving a few at at time all afternoon.

Swap meet is not usually very big. But hey, some of you who always say they "should have" brought stuff need to do it this time !!
It is on Saturday from whenever you get there with your stuff until you go to bed or go home. It's very looseand unstructured. Items will be displayed in the "garage" area.

Pizza dinner will be about 5:30.

Sunday morning meeting 9:00 AM as per usual.

                            Hey guys,

THis will be my first time to attend this meeting and the swap meet. I am bringing lots o stuff with me to get rid of. I wanted to list the items here just in case that special something that you are looking for happens to be in my truck. Here they are:

-Stock seat from my 81 R100RS (may she rest in peace).
-Used throttle, choke, clutch, speedo and odometer cables from the R100RS and R75/6.
-Under seat tool tray from R75/6.
-BMW tool to remove fork top caps.
-Riders manual that covers the R80/7, R100T, RT, S and RS.
-Front lower venter fairing (alternator cover) fro the R100RS.
-Right hand swicth assembly from R75/6.
-Left hand switch assembly from R75/6 ( not functional but all parts there to put back together for the gifted).
-Pair or rear stock shocks from the R100RS.
-2 Bosch ignition coils and mount.
-3 spark plug wires (2 are brand new but short).
-Pair of heavy duty BMW fork springs with only 3K miles on them.
-2 hand pumps for the airhead.

I also have a set of stock shocks from my R1150RT with approximately 30K miles on them.

I will see everyone on Saturday around 1 pm or so.

                            Steve

If that's what I think it is I may be interested in the Lower Venter Fairing for the RS. Is that the slotted piece that mounts in the lower middle of the fairing?
