  • Perry Mountain Dual Sport Ride Comin' Up!

For those not familiar the Reynolds Pasture outside Maplesville, AL has long been a dual sport rider's dream. There are several different level events throughout the year that are all out races and frankly I like to visit as a spectator but as a contestant, not so much.

But alas....There is an event coming up April 11-12 that is a straight up dual sport ride. The event is free and although I have never attended looks like it should be a lot of fun!

Check out the details here http://perrymountain.com/dualsport/DualSport.pdf and let me know if you would be interested in participating!

I have been to the place but not the event. My brother and a friend went last year though and had a great time. I understand they have fast, medium and a slow group so you can pick your poison!

I was able to attend this event over the weekend and had a great time. Arrived early Saturday morning and made the rider's meeting at 8AM for instructions. They had different groups for fast and medium riders as well as dual sport and adventure rides. We chose dual sport and rode a small portion of the roads available around there in the Talladega National Forest. The weather could not have been better with sun and mid 70* temps. Ended up with just about 100 miles returning to starting point about 3PM. Looked like they had a good turnout of about 100 riders. The forest offers a bunch of roads so it never seemed crowded. We stopped for a break at the Perry Mountain Fire Tower and I could not resist climbing to get my morning cardio in!

I am so jealous. We were going to go - been planning it awhile - and then I got really sick from being so cold riding at MMM. But it was so much fun. Hopefully next year, I can get do both.

I wish there would have been a reminder posted. Looks like I missed some good fun.
