It's time for the 29th Annual Ride to Eat @ the Stagecoach Cafe, (52860 Hwy 50. Stockton, AL 36579). This annual event -- tho' not a BMWMOAL event -- is a true happening! While somewhat weather dependent, there will be between 500 & 1000 motorcyclists meeting at the Stagecoach for a delicious buffet lunch. Motorcycles start arriving around 8:30am - 9:00am, lunch starts serving when the Stagecoach is ready (usually a little before 11:00am), and motorcycles start leaving for home after lunch. The ride organizer -- B'ham's own John Harrison -- hands out awards for longest ride to lunch, oldest rider who rode to the Stagecoach, the youngest rider who rode, and the rider of the oldest bike ridden to the rally. If you think you qualify for one of these awards, you must register (no fee required) and be present when the awards are presented - usually @ 12noon sharp!
It's a great ride down/back to Stockton. I will be making it an easy two-day event (riding down Monday, staying the night @ the Comfort Inn North Mobile, 1200 Shelton Beach Rd, Saraland, AL 36571). If you choose the 2-day option, there are motels in Bay Minette, but there are nicer hotels IMHO in Saraland, with better choices for dinner Monday night. From the Comfort Inn there are several restaurants within walking distance (actually just across the parking lot!). If you don't like the Comfort Inn for accommodations, you have your choice of 8 - 10 other motels/hotels nearby.
